Charanda Of Newport Reviews
My family loves everyone at Charanda's from the sweet hostess, waiter and waitresses, all the way to the bartenders and the GM. Nate is super friendly and he always gives us hugs when we come in. It's truly a family here. I said the bar is the modern day Cheers!! #iykyk
Highly recommend the street tacos on Tuesdays!! Order soft tortilla with Pico and queso. Tell them Will and Kim sent you!
I have been coming to this location for years, and it is definitely my go to spot! I love everyone that works there, atmosphere, drinks, food! Can’t go wrong with Charonda‘s in Newport!
We love Charanda of Newport. The staff is super friendly & the food is always good. My teenage autistic son picks to go here all the time. Most of the servers never have to ask what he wants, they just know. We’ve been coming to this location for years & it’s one of our favorites. ❤️

Charanda Of Newport is a restaurant that offers a mixed dining experience. While the service is generally praised as attentive and efficient, the food quality can vary. The atmosphere is decent, with a cool decor that creates a lower-quality Mexican version of a chain restaurant like Olive Garden. Prices are considered average to high, with most meals costing $17 or more.
Recent reviews highlight that the Newport Charanda serves authentic Mexican dishes like fish tacos and carne asada tacos, which are described as close to authentic. The fresh guacamole and cheese dip are delicious, and the top-shelf margaritas add to the experience. Customers also mention that the food, especially the fish and refried beans, is very good and better than many other places. The people are noted to be kind, and the food is generally enjoyed, with many considering it a favorite in the area.
Some dishes like the Birria tacos received mixed reviews, with suggestions to order a lime on the side to enhance flavor. The elote (street corn) was noted as possibly overcooked and dry. Service can be a little slow, taking around 21 minutes to order and 10 minutes to receive food, but the flavor makes up for the wait. The place has a somewhat tacky but nice feeling overall.
While the restaurant is more of a "Mexi-merican, Tex-Mex, comfort food" spot rather than fully authentic Mexican, many visitors find it a good place to enjoy a tasty meal with friendly staff and good drinks. The experience can be hit or miss, but the food and friendly service, especially when Nanny is present, make it a popular choice in the area.
