My go to spot for carribean food. Being from NY good carribean food is easy to come by. It is not easy to find good island food in this Charlotte metro area. I work nearby and was glad to discover it. Thank you island grill. Oxtails are good and the rice and peas are always solid.

Delicious. The yams were just the way I like them, not too sweet. Cabbage is not heavily seasoned and still has a little crunch, but again, I liked it but my husband prefers the very soft, vinegar heavy cabbage. This one tastes more light/fresh). Plantains are good. I had rice and peas with oxtail gravy, this was the star of the dish. My husband had the yellow rice. I don’t know which one I liked better, both were so flavorful; I’d go back just for the rice. Jerk chicken wings are good, mild kick with a grill char (some may not appreciate the char, but I liked it). The wings aren’t “dry” cook wise but in my opinion need a sauce/wetness. They don’t offer the jerk sauce so I’d ask for it. The Maccaroni is perfect. My husband had the curry chicken, very good too. Overall everything was well seasoned to my liking. The place was clean. Good portion sizes. The wait was about 30 mins so call ahead if you have time constraints. I will be back, so many other things I want to try.

I visited on a Saturday before 4PM. I ordered "seafood soup" as there was a 30+ min wait for the Jerk chicken. When I tasted the "seafood soup", there were potatoes, a large dumpling the size of a hockey puck, chicken, carrots, onions, broth, but NO SEAFOOD!!! How can you sell "seafood soup", but have no seafood in the soup!!!

The food is excellent and the staff is super friendly. I can't recommend it enough. The jerk chicken was extremely good as was the jerk tofu for the vegan/vegetarian crowd.
If I could, I would give 10 stars. First off, the young man taking orders was pleasant. I ordered the curry chicken and oxtail. They don't skimp on the meat and are very favorable and melt in your mouth tender. I also ordered a side of yams and mac and cheese.This is the best Jamaican I've had in the Charlotte metro. I'll definitely go back very soon.
