Best meal we’ve had since being on the island! The food at Johnson Creek Tavern was insanely good — super flavorful Southern dishes. Service was amazing too. We’ll definitely be back!
I’ve been a customer personally for over 20 years and my family for over 40 years. Based on our experiences over the last year, we will NEVER go again. JCT has also deleted all the comments and reviews I’ve posted recently because they are negative.
A local friend had recommended this restaurant to us. We tried to call yesterday to see if they offered to-go meals. Someone picked up the phone and sat it on the counter. I sat waiting for almost 10 mins. No one ever came back to speak with me. I could hear the restaurant noise in the background. I tried a few times again later, and the phone was still off the hook. That was a disappointment. But we gave you another try tonight. We went there to dine-in. My husband and 2 sons got good food with no issues (a seafood plate, kid burger plate, and kid chicken plate ). My baked potato was tiny and burnt to where you couldn’t even get a fork into it. Waiter agreed. It was sent back and replaced with another side. All good to go… ? nope. I went to eat my scallops and found them to be very undercooked. Our waiter took those back and replaced them, too. My family was almost finished with their meal and needed to wait on me to eat. There was a long black hair in the bottom of my coleslaw bowl. 🤢 I didn’t even bother to get it replaced. I just didn’t eat it. I appreciate that both items were replaced and I completely understand that issues happen sometimes. But that seemed to be a lot. It’s the first time in years I’ve sent back food in a restaurant (I’m not picky). We never saw management for them to provide good customer service to at least apologize for the multiple issues or make it right with a small discount, free dessert, etc. The waiter apologized and even said he wished he could have something done for us but the “owner wasn’t there.” Our waiter was great; I wish I could remember his name. Said he doesn’t work there often.
This place is amazing. We have ate here 2 times this week. The bartender makes this place. He is so out going !!!! The food. Omg. The crab dip. The steak. The chicken with cheese and bacon and the Wings are out of this world. And the drinks. The drinks was amazing. Keep it up guys and keep the bartender.
Disgusting staff, place was not clean, no air, food was terrible, must be family owned and feel that they can treat people poorly! This customer will not be back! I also asked to see business license which was not posted and was told they didn’t have any!
STAY AWAY!! I Do not recommend! Horrible service! We arrived on a Saturday at 7:30 pm. Waited over 1.5 hours for entrees for a party of 6. There were only 5 other tables seated in the establishment. When the food was finally delivered, we were substituted a side dish without ever being asked or told. One from the party did not even receive their entree. It wasn’t noticed by the waitress, so had to speak up and ask. She left the table to “find out” and never returned. The customer went to find her to let her know to not cook the food now because everyone else was almost done eating at this point. There was never any apology, no customer service and much lack of concern, so I told the waitress we waited a long time and one person never received food, we were not happy and asked to speak with a manager. Waitress made sarcastic faces but agreed to get the manager. The manager came to the table and said, “so I hear someone wants to speak to me” I spoke up and said, “I do.” She replied by cocking her head to the side and looking up and said “speak to me!” This took everyone at the table by surprise, that a manager approached paying customers in this manner. This turned into a shouting match. Asked her name and the owners name. She was very rude but insisted she was not. We just asked to pay our bill so we could leave. There was never an offer to make things right for us as paying customers who have frequented the establishment in the past. We paid with cash because I certainly didn’t trust giving her my credit card information. Noticed on the receipt there was a “credit card connivence” fee once we left. I would stay away from this place, it is definitely an establishment that does not value that paying customers keep them in business!
Do not recommend this place. Three couples went this evening. We waited over 1.5 hours for our food. When it arrived one did not receive their meal, one’s steak was overcooked, the shrimp gumbo had one shrimp, they said they messed up the baked potatoes and substituted mashed potatoes without asking if anyone preferred something else. When asked about the missing meal, the waitress had an attitude. Asked to speak to the manager. Big mistake! She came over and said “I heard someone wanted to speak to me. “ After someone said “I do” she cocked her head to the side and said “talk to me”. We asked for our bill, paid and left. Never once did anyone apologize nor did they offer any reduction in the bill. We will never return!
My wife and I went there for a quick weekend getaway, and we were not disappointed. Thank you, Carol, for the great service.

We managed to squeeze in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised with great food and drinks, for a pool side spot it’s really fantastic. People are super friendly!
