I would love to give a positive review. We drove out to St Helena on the recommendation of a friend. This site says you’re open on Tuesday. But you were not!! We ended up at the seaside grill a mile away. So far so good!

The Shrimp Shack invented the Shrimp Burger. This sandwich is the best thing to ever happen in SC (seriously). The shrimp itself comes from the boats across the street. I am craving one badly and will eat one again very soon. Not to miss in the Beaufort area.

If you seek good food but not fancy dining, then this is the place. Shrimp burger is shredded shrimp in a breaded fried or air fried shell, on a hamburger bun. It was not greasy. Table with ketchup, shrimp sauce is on the side.
Limited lunch time hours, limited inside seating and limited parking.

The Shrimp Shack certainly did not disappoint. We have been looking forward to coming here for weeks as well as their other business, Gay Fish Company, and they both exceeded our expectations. The Shrimp Burger was excellent, the fried flounder was delicious, and the service was fast despite a line being out the door.

Almost everything is deep fried in the same grease. It all tastes the same. The “famous” shrimp burger was over-breaded and deep fried. Why? It’s local shrimp! It tasted like a Mrs. Paul’s fish stick. I’m sorry. I wanted to like it. The key lime pie was boxed and had a strange aftertaste. Green beans are canned. French fries are fine.The ambiance is old school beach shack and that’s totally cool.

Food greatly lacked overall. All food on menu fried so I ordered a burger. The burger was super tiny and ultra thin with a massive bun. Green beans were not edible - canned and bland. They cost $2.50 a side! I could have bought 4 cans of green beans for that amount. Key lime pie had a strange after taste. Had high hopes after place was recommended by another local. On a positive note: lady at the order window nice and the crinkle french fries were good. Sorry but have to be up front on how bad the food was, even though we were very famished when we got there. We left the restaurant hungry. A lot of other great restaurants in the area, seek them out. Very disappointed.
