Haven’t been in years. The new owners and their team including Nick and the rest of the staff, has done a phenomenal job revamping the place. There’s a noticeable improvement in food quality and ambience. Well done.

We always loved going here in the past. Had a reservation for 9 people. We were seated promptly. I told them 3 different times it was for our daughters birthday. Only thing the cook did was have us sing her happy birthday.. all of the food was cooked at the same time. No show at all. The meat was all served to us first and rice last. Seemed like he was in a hurry to cook and go away. I assume that is because he automatically gets the 18% gratuity. I really don’t mind the gratuity being included for the food and entertainment but this visit definitely wasn’t worth the cost. And… we weren’t even offered chop sticks and never saw the server again until it was time for to go boxes. Very disappointing.
Recommended dishes: Hibatchi Filet Mignon and Shrimp, Soup and Salad with House Dressing

The style of food and entertainment offered for dinner gets 4 stars. Being the only place of its kind in the area gives it the upper edge for being a fresh made, unique place to eat. However, I feel the lack of authentic flavor leaves me rating it a little lower than a 5. We visited later in the evening, and we're sat quickly. Our meal, of course, was made fresh and flavorful as they cooked it right in front of us. The soup did have more of a chicken noodles taste than the ginger or celery taste I was expecting. I like that they offer you plenty of sauces at the table with a good variety.

The Hibachi cook was very friendly and funny.His food was good also, the staff were friendly,the food was really good. I had the Spicy Tuna Roll and it was amazing!! Priced a little to high,but it was worth it, everyone was laughing,food was good, not a long wait for the food. I'd go back forsure

Kanpai has definitely went downhill. We've dined in a few times and always had a pleasant experience, until today. There's a bit of a wait as always when you walk in last minute, but there shouldn't be one when you have a reservation as we did. There was trash on the floors, rice on my chair when I pulled it out which left a greasy spot to be sat on as the employee simply removed it with a dry napkin. On the grill was old rice pieces and a little bit of a drink was spilled on my side as a waitress passed by. There was also food residue on the spoon that was wrapped in the silverware napkin on my plate. My spouse asked for plastic silverware and was only given a fork so he couldn't eat the soup given. We switched our order to takeout and left. The staff were nice and asked if everything was ok as did the chef. The food was their saving grace as it was good.
