We had ANOTHER wonderful experience at Al's! We were so happy to be able to have one last meal there before their closing date. The food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, as always! The entire atmosphere was like a party as so many people were there to celebrate the end of this era! Our server was top notch and made us feel like we were her only table even though the “house was packed.” Thank you for all the wonderful memories over these years! Congratulations on a well earned retirement, Al! We will miss you!!!

I'm going to miss Al's Upstairs!! This is one of my favorite restaurants. It's always on point. Food and service is always amazing. When I had friends in town, this is where we dined. I am forever thankful for my experiences here. Thanks Al and Staff. Many blessings to all of you.

We are sad to see Al's Upstairs close. It's a wonderful restaurant and we enjoyed eating there! Our only complaints about our last visit was the location of our table and the bread being stale.
Amazing! An experience I will never forget. I'm so glad I got to bring my mother one last time and I got to finally experience the restaurant myself. It was 24 years ago my mother requested “Veal alla Al” from my Dad on the night I was born ?
Had to confirm reservations multiple times or risk cancellation. Told not to arrive too early as no waiting area, but arrive late and will be cancelled. Can not have drink in bar as bar is reserved also. As we were being seated, hostess asked my guest to remove his nice fedora (not a baseball cap) yet staff was serving in Santa caps. We were in nice jeans but in the many communications to confirm, never was a dress code mentioned and there's a medical reason he chooses to wear a head covering. Dinner felt rushed in & rushed out. Hard to enjoy.

So sorry to see Al's closing. It has been a dependable quality landmark restaurant for over 40 years. We have enjoyed it very much and will miss being able to go there for a fabulous quality meal in a delightful atmosphere.

We loved having the chance to eat at Al's Upstairs before they closed! The table by the window overlooking the city was incredible, our server MJ was very attentive and knew the menu well. The overall quality of the food was unmatched, one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. If have the chance to go back this week my girlfriend and I will take it

Al's Upstairs is an iconic restaurant in Columbia SC. When I heard they were closing, I knew I had to have a special meal there one more time. The menu, the service, the ambience are second to none! The view alone is worth your reservation!
This is by far my favorite restaurant in Columbia. Extremely sad to see it go. But, if the owner ever wants to release a cookbook of these delicious recipes I would happily purchase it ?
My husband and I had a wonderful experience on Thursday night. We especially enjoyed our server who was very helpful, made us laugh and took a photo for us. We are so sad to see Al's Upstairs close. We have many happy memories of time at this outstanding restaurant.

Great Dinner as expected - Al's has always been a legend here in our community - it is hard to see them close up but I wish them the best of luck in all that they do - we will miss eating with a view and of course their fantastic food always delivers!
Al was waiting to greet diners and the window table facing the best view in the city (downtown) was perfect. There were a rose and candle on the table with white linen tablecloths and pretty chairs. The brown sugar old fashion was strong and the seafood manicotti was really good. The veal parmesan was excellent and the tiramisu was small but good! We are glad we were able to make a reservation.
I took my friend to Al's Upstairs Italian Restaurant for her birthday celebration. Everything was wonderful! The staff were attentive and very helpful, and the food was exquisite and the atmosphere was peaceful. Many thanks!
