The beer was fantastic, the bison dogs were even better and the owners were the best. They were extremely busy but made you feel like the only customer there!
Our daughter told us about how awesome this place was! I wasn’t sure how it all worked but the owner walked us through everything so we knew how to work it all.. We have never been to a place like this and wow!!! How fun and perfect for someone who wants to sample a few different beers without the pressure of big lines and worrying you didn’t choose right!! We walked in the door and we’re met by one of the owners who immediately introduced himself and took us on a tour of the brewery. This place is phenomenal, and I play my share of breweries in Southeast South Dakota and the tri-state area of Iowa Nebraska. This is gonna be one of the funniest breweries I have ever been in highly recommended!!!

Located in the Black Hills, The Prairie Dog Taproom is a must-stop destination offering great food, cold beer, and a unique experience. The restaurant has it all: 5-star food, 5-star service, and a staff that is genuinely friendly and helpful. The owners and staff take a lot of pride in what they’ve created. The food is amazing, fresh, and made from scratch with healthy ingredients. Popular menu items include the pizza (hand made dough daily and hand crushed tomatoes), the Pioneer hotdog, the Badlands Caramelizer bison burger, the Rushmore rattler hotdog, chips and queso, baked bourbon beans, the prairie bolo salad, and the Phillips Stake decadent triple chocolate chip cookie. The pizza is to die for.
The self pour tap system lets guests pour as much or as little as they want, paying only by the ounce. The beer selection is good with a nice variety, and there is also a small wine selection, a mead, and a cider on tap. The atmosphere is completely relaxing with lounge chairs, high tops, and low top tables. The outdoor seating area along a creek is really nice, with a backyard featuring cornhole boards and a patio with live music on weekends. The place is clean and welcoming for the whole family.
