Service was fantastic! Drinks were strong. Food was good. I would eat there again. It was a bit spendy, but overall everything was enjoyable.

The music was way too loud and when asked to turn it down the server gave us an excuse that they were unable to do so as the owner controls it and they were out of the area. Other diners had their ha da over their ears to decrease the sound volume. The burgers were good but the water tasted awful and was undrinkable due to the ? Chlorine taste. We will not go back.

I was happy they could accommodate my gluten allergy. I enjoyed the gluten free ribs and a baked potato. The bathroom was clean, and the server was very nice and helpful and efficient. My friend liked her Elk Bison burger.

It definitely is not the worst restaurant in town (the Chute Rooster is more likely a contender for this award). However, it certainly falls flat of expectations. Despite dining on a slow Sunday night, food was consistently delivered near cold, items missing, and was overall subpar for the price. If you find yourself in need of dining service with little else open, it’ll do. If other places are open or if you have time to drive to Custer, then it may be worth exploring other options.

My daughter has Celiac and the 1885 Steakhouse has several options that she can eat. All the entrees we've had there have been excellent and the portions are generous. Definitely a must stop place whenever we're in the Hills.

This was a nice, low-key restaurant for a meal. Be sure to ask your server what's available, because they run out a lot. They were out of filet the evening we went, which was a Tuesday around 6:30pm. The elk was very good, though. As was the pecan pie. Be warned that it's very hard to find parking near the restaurant.

Beautifully restored historic building with great service and beyond delicious family recipes. We ate there for lunch and dinner on different days. Lunch was buffalo/elk burger and chicken bacon wrap with yummy sides. Firecracker shrimp for an appitizer was the right amount of heat. Dinner included the best ribs ever, and the peach honey pork was wonderful. Sinfully delicious macaroni and cheese was the perfect accompaniment. Decadent chocolate bourbon pecan pie and blueberry peach cobbler were the perfect ending. Can't recommend this place enough. I wish we weren't just passing through on vacation!

We came across this after being at Crazy Horse Memorial. What a great find. In fact we stopped back 4 days later. The peach pork chops are out of this world. The second visit was the walleye. It melts in your mouth. My only complaint is both times someone at our table had to send back their potatoes because they were just warm. When you pay that much for a meal you want it hot.

This is pleasant, only-slightly-touristy restaurant in a nice town in the Black Hills. I had a steak and my wife had a buffalo steak. Food was great. Great service. We were there early enough to get in some good conversation with the waitress. Recommend it.

Delicious food -- we had the elk-bison burger and the cheesesteak. Bourbon Mules to drink. Staff was friendly and attentive, without being hovering!
