Oshima Sushi Japanese Cuisine

GREAT place to eat. Sushi rolls are a bit smaller than I would like but light on the rice and heavy on the contents inside the roll. The salad has a unique homemade dressing. Very fresh and light. The Miso soup has a better than average flavor. Lunch special is a great deal here!

I've been to a lot of sushi places. This is easily one of the best I've ever enjoyed. The menu was extensive, the food was delicious, the service was a fast and friendly as it gets. I'll be back!

Japanese food served by Chinese staff is always a little odd. No reason it can't work. Not bad, but not quite authentic, a little like Mexican food served by Indians. This is very normal in the Midwestern US, but always leaves me feeling like I should wait to order sushi when I'm actually IN Japan.

Rolls are ok, but very average. California roll was one of the smaller I've ever encountered. Ordered three rolls, and got a pinch of wasabi the size of a pinkie nail. Asked for more, and got a small lump the size of a peach seed from reluctant staff. Seaweed salad tasted like typical, prepackaged, Asian market mix. Completely forgettable, BUT, for South Dakota, I suppose this is expected. I have never been here before, but I don't believe this to be the foodie capital of flyover country. Who knows?

Decor is up to snuff, but I also found it odd that the somewhat loud music playing was Christmas music, broadcast by a religious radio station. It didn't ruin anything for me, but certainly didn't create the ambiance I expected. A little like having garlic naan and listening to K-pop on the radio.

Ultimately, I only came for dinner because many other reviewers rave about the place. If you have never left Sioux Falls, you'll be favorably impressed with eating here. If you have ever traveled anywhere that serves decent Japanese cuisine, you'll be underwhelmed.

Love the food and the service. The place itself is a bit cramped and run down but honestly it doesnt bother me. Its my go-to for sushi!

Came here for lunch for sushi, and it was just okay. The rolls were very small. I asked for chopsticks, and the server just threw it on the table. He seemed very angry about something. Inside of the restaurant looked pretty cool, but that was it.
