this is the place i take people to eat and the place ill recommend. seble is the woman who cooks and serves and she is a very kind woman. in my opinion this is the gem in the city and that's probably not far off.

This is an amazing place! My husband and I stopped to try some Ethiopian food. We were greeted with a very sweet and welcoming lady. She makes you feel at home. The food is amazing and the whole experience is just perfect. You must try the coffee. She roasts it in house and wow the smell and taste is just so wonderful. You will not be dissapointed!

Very homey food. The food was very good but the best part was the attention we received from the owner. She is such a sweet lady and even gave us free coffee, and she also showed us how she made it. It was like visiting your favorite aunt. I honestly got full with the Injera and the beef ribs.

Don't let the outside fool you. All of my coworkers at my contractor facility recommended shalom to me for delicious Ethiopian food. I'm assuming she was the owner, but she was also the server and the hostess -- service, graciousness, and food was excellent. I asked her what her favorite item was and that I would take that. The Injera (teff bread) was absolutely delicious! I don't remember what it is, and I actually did not take a picture of my food like I normally do but the #2 spicy is a winner! I hear that they have great coffee so that's my next plan but, I definitely recommend that you go out of your comfort food and try this place the next time you're around Sioux Falls!

Finding parking and the door was a tiny bit confusing but not a big deal. Once inside, we were greeted enthusiastically and treated like special guests! The food was excellent, she even accommodated our special request. We love Ethiopian food and this is a new favorite! We can't wait to be back.

Where do I begin? Entering Shalom Restaurant is like stepping into Shubla's ( owner and head chef) home. You step inside and inhale a blend of calming spices and then you are greeted by Shubla's welcoming smile. Her dishes are hot, delicious and sooooooo satisfying. I love the Awaze Tibs with enjera. Each bite yields expertly layered flavors that absolutely delight the tongue and take you to far off places. I could taste Shubla's pride in sharing her culture and her love for her guests. INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE. Great laid back, first date kinda place. FYI: parking for SHALOM is in the rear. Entry is thru patio door.
