I ordered the Isope and it was nothing like I thought I expected. After a few bites I ordered something else. The miso soup was cold and had potato and onion in it. I paid for it myself (manager did not want to refund but I was okay with it) my stomach hurt the next day. Spent the day throwing up in the bathroom. ?

So far the best sushi in Sioux Falls. The quality of the fish is just so much better than the other places in Sioux Falls. Had the two tone sushi combo of tuna and salmon, just wow. Nice large pieces of fish on top of sushi rice. I would say they provided 50% more fish than the normal sushi places in town, and the flavor was spot on.A little expensive for an everyday kind of restaurant, but a great special date night kind of a place. Average cost $30-40 a person I would sayNote, this is a small mom and pop location, so seating is very limited.

***THIS IS THE ONLY TRUE JAPANESE RESTAURANT RESTAURANT IN SOUTH DAKOTA***Don't be fooled by fusion, folks! So thrilled to come back to Sioux Falls and dine at Sushi Masa again! We lived in Studio City for 15 years next to world-famous sushi restaturants, and we still use Sushi Masa as our basis for comparison. They really do have the freshest fish and amazing, talented and creative sushi chefs who create flawless presentations.Dietary restrictions: They were awesome about my gluten-free requests and have Tamari on hand. The servers knew which meals were GF possible and made substitutions for me (no ginger carrot dressing, no cocktail sauce, soy sauce, etc.)

Best sushi in town - always fresh! Owners are kind people, and prices are reasonable. Sometimes it takes a bit to get your food out, but worth the wait. Highly recommend!

The food is not on par with the prices, sushi rolls falling apart, fish/eel tastes past its prime, prices for basic dishes like katsu are 20+ dollars. The young lady that served us was amazing but she was the only person working the entire dining room so things were naturally slower.Ambience is really cool, you can tell it’s a family spot, will definitely have to search out better quality sushi in the future.

Delicious Japanese food and polite servers. The servers were happy to explain the ingredients of different items on the menu. My favorite is the shrimp and scallop katsu, but everything is good.

I've been eating here for 20 years, I travel a lot and I have not found a better place in the country! Definitely my favorite restaurant of any category in all of Sioux Falls by far! You've not had sushi until you've tried Fumi's cuts! Hope I spelled his name right! Also this is the only real Japanese sushi place in South Dakota probably, all the rest i know of are chinese run! Value for the dollar is unbeatable! Flavor texture and every detail here is second to none! Even the sushi rice shows a completely different level of attention and expertise and the fish is so fresh its the freshest anywhere because he is so good at running his small business and moving through inventory! This is where you take someone to impress them in Sioux Falls! They won't believe they're really in South Dakota!

For years, my husband and I have been loyal masa fans. We order takeout quite often. We have learned not to dine in because it is a super long and delayed dining experience. We have also learned when we place a take out order, to give it at least 30 more minutes because our order is never ready on time. Last night, we placed an order at 503. We have learned to call right when they open because the food is never ready in time. When we placed our order, we were told pick up time was 615. So an hour and a 15 min of a wait, which was fine. We showed up at 615 and were told it would be another 20 minutes. We ordered 4 rolls and 3 appetizers. Our usual. It was $110. The usual. The food was excellent as always but an hour and 45 minute wait time was just too much for us considering our past experiences. We have decided to try Oshima the next time we want sushi. Last night was the final stake in our Masa hearts.
