Hatsuhana Express | Japanese is a very small restaurant in rural West Tennessee. Nothing fancy, but surprisingly good. The space is small with intimate lighting. It is run by a husband and wife team that puts TLC into everything they make. The sushi rolls were excellent. A favorite is the Sushi Plate, which is always fresh and perfectly prepared. Other great options are the Tempura and Combo fried rice. The spring roll app was fresh and hot. The hot green tea was good, though served in a Styrofoam cup. The miso soup is pretty good but tastes the same as instant stuff. One salmon nigiri was thin and torn with an odd metallic taste, not worth the price. The grilled salmon and veggies had great flavor, though the color of the veggies looked dull. The service was good. It is not hibachi entertainment, but they have plates like from a hibachi restaurant. It gets busy, so ordering in advance is recommended. Overall, a great Japanese restaurant in a small town.
