We had a wonderful experience for my mothers birthday on June 5, and Jason the chef is incredible. Ask for him, and he is the most personable chef you will find. We had Josh as our server and he was equally as professional and incredible. Recommend him highly. Best restaurant in Bristol.

What a disappointment. The food was ok but the service was terrible. Especially for a SO CALLED fine dining experience. Not once but twice we had to ask for another employee to send our server to the table so we could ask for what we needed. Our glasses sat empty most of the dinner. They brought the check without asking if we would like dessert which we wanted. After we finished dessert I timed to see how long before the server came back to ask if we were ready for the check....took 17 minutes. On our way to the front we overheard another guest walk up to the hostess stand and ask if they would every be served, said they had been three 30 minutes and not even had a waiter welcome them let alone take any order. I tried to discuss some displeasure to the owner who was very rude and dismissive of the experience. WILL NOT return to the establishment. Plenty of better restaurants in town to spend $200+ dollars on dinner.

I spent 2 weeks in Tennessee and found J Frank on trip advisor. Saturday night they open at 5pm, I walked in at 5:30 without a reservation and was promptly seated. The first thing I noticed was that despite being a white table cloth restaurant my self determined underdressed attire was not an issue. The customer activity picked up after 6:30 and I would recommend a reservation later in the evening. I was seated on the second floor where it was quiet. In total I spent 90 minutes in the upper dining room. The wait staff was excellent. Big shout out to Phillip (you can call him Phil, he doesn’t mind). I sampled the following: New Orleans Shrimp Baked Brie Wedge Salad Field and Stream (Trout and 6oz Fillet) Cake and Steak (See Photo) Chilean Sea Bass Brussel Sprouts (I hate Brussel sprouts but was offered one from my wife, unsurprisingly the were the best Brussel sprouts I’ve ever eaten, I may actually order them when I return) There were zero complaints, every course, dish, and side generated a positive comment from myself or my party In total my party of 4 could not stop raving about the food, comprehensive pricing, and adequate wine list. Already planning my return trip.

Visiting from DC, we decided to have a nice dinner and drinks and were very pleased with J Frank’s. The filet was tender, duck fat fried potatoes were outstanding and the service was top notch. Will return again on our next visit and highly recommend.

Driving through the area to visit our Navy veteran son in the DC area and simply searched online to find restaurants in the Bristol area and this came up in the outdoor seating category during Covid. I called and made a quick reservation and boy am I glad I did. We parked in front of this beautiful old southern style two story house. We were greeted by a most energetic and gorgeous young lady who acted like we were her long lost relatives. We were offered a fantastic courtyard table and served one of the best meals we've had in a long time, along with some great acoustic guitar and vocals from a local music artist. Prices were reasonable for the great experience. Owner was actively making sure everyone was comfortable and told me he named the restaurant for his grandfather. Well God Bless Grandad J Frank and our fantastic outlaw server, Jessie. Hope to be back some day.

Small, quiet, intimate setting. Great dinner selection--the blue cheese wedge salad was spectacular. Seafood pasta had generous chunks of lobster, scallops, and shrimp in a delicious lobster bisque sauce. Excellent service. The wine by the glass selection was pretty bad considering the ambiance and well-prepared food. $14 a glass for lousy red wine was disappointing. Consider tasting a bottle to be sure the bottle selection was any better. Reservations strongly recommended.

This is a charming older home venue for a special dinner! Since it was "Covid" time the re-opening featured tables distanced well apart and our waitress wore a mask , of course we could not and eat! The food was superb, and service amazing!! Thanks, we will be back next time through Bristol!

We are ruined for commercial dining now! This restaurant is amazing. The staff is amazing. The atmosphere is romantic and relaxed. The food is exquisite. We will definitely be back. Thank you for making my birthday so enjoyable.

J Frank’s is situated just out of the way off the beaten path, saving it from the casual passerby. The charming old house, converted in a fine dining establishment is very admirable able inviting. We had the Sunday brunch. A buffet style affair, full of delectable morsels from breakfast and dinner offerings found elsewhere, but with a much higher standard in taste, quality, and presentation. A bit pricey, but worth it when indulging for special occasions or a healthy budget where you are concerned with such things.

As soon as you enter the front door, you realize you are in a historic, friendly and special place. I've eaten here dozens of times going back to when it was The Troutdale Dining Room. Since it changed ownership, it is only better and more personal. I have never had a bad experience or bad meal here.

We are NEVER disappointed in J Frank’s. Jason Vanover is an excellent chef and the atmosphere is perfect! Tonight we had the 10oz filet and the steak Oscar... truly melt in your mouth! Everything was cooked perfectly, and presented with an artistic flare. Recommendation 5 stars! Thanks Jason!
