La Altena is the hidden jewel of East Brainerd. I've lived in the area for well over 20 years and this is my favorite restaurant. The staff takes care of you, the food is amazing, and it's close to home. I'd encourage anyone to come up with a better Mexican restaurant (hint: you can't).
This was our first time there. It was suggested by everybody that works next door at Publics. I'm glad we took the recommendation. The food was incredible. The service was on point and the drinks spot on. my wife had a blue margarita and I had a Long Island.. our waiter, Daniel could not have been any better. He made great recommendations and suggestions. The prices are very reasonable and the portions sizes were generous..
Daniel is the best, Jackie is a close second. I live close by and bring guest often and they always provide a great experience. Manuel and Jasmine always say hey and make sure everything is going great with our experience.
