we used to love this place, but the last few times we've gotten bbq has been bad. no flavor to it and it's been cold every time.

Based on the reviews, Excell Bbq is a locally owned small market, gas station and excellent takeout barbecue place. It is a hole-in-the-wall that has been a favorite for nearly 30 years. The real, made-on-site barbecue includes chicken, ribs, pulled pork, and all the right sides. Favorite sides are the corn nuggets and the Mac n cheese and fried okra. The food is delicious, fantastic, and the best damn BBQ in the area. The cost is better than average and very reasonable, with a good amount of food for the price. There is ample parking right off the road. It is just what is needed for lunch on a busy day and well worth the drive.
