This place use to be really good. It has gone downhill! The margarita's have no alcohol in them. So that was a waste of money. The food use to be flavorful. Now is like eating slop. Gross! Everything you order is very heavily oiled down and greasy. My plate had more oil on it than anything else. The meat has no flavor what so ever. The vegetables weren't fresh and were soft like they have been out all day. To get any flavor I had to weigh my food down with hot sauce. Our waiter (who was clearly in a race and didn't want to be there) asked us what we wanted not 30 seconds after being seated. We were just handed the menus... Then our waiter just walked away from us not saying a word. Not a place you want to take your family if you are looking for great mexican food dining experience. That was the last time for us.

El Sombrero is a hidden gem. I grew up along the Texas Mexico border and the food reminds me of my hometown. The servers are friendly and the service is good. We eat here fairly often and get takeout as well.

There are some great people here and some great cheese dip. It's our neighborhood restaurant and I'm so glad it's here.

The server seemed like we were an inconvenience to him. Hard to get refills. The food was mediocre at best. There were 3 of us dining and food came out at separate times. No one received their entire meal at once. We each got a part of the meal then one other item would be dropped off. From start of delivery to finally receiving all food was just over 10 minutes. We ordered a shrimp dish, fajitas and a combination plate. No modifications and food was cold. I could also tell some of the plates had been sitting in the window for a bit. I was in tow visiting my husband who is there on business. I would not go back and he doesn't think he will either.

Overall, this isn't the worst place....for an American. For me, it was so mid. Comparable to taco bell. There was nothing really flavor worthy. The best part was the extra hot salsa and chips. I ordered the mini chimichangas. They were pretty good. The birria tacos were abysmal. They didn't have enough consume and were dry as the sahara. If you're Mexican, you know Birria being dry??? RED FLAG. I say skip this restaurant. Americans, you may like it, since it's tame in flavor. Latinos...just go to Camino Real.

Super friendly to families with kids! They were so kind and didn’t make us feel bad for having two wild, loud kids who were just being kids. Food and margs were great too! Will definitely be back soon!

Monday night dinner was way less than anticipated from reviews of this place. Margaritas were weakly made without much flavor. Ordered cheese dip with chorizo but they delivered it AFTER dinner arrived. Not organized. Then my Special Dinner I ordered chicken mole enchilada but everything else beef - everything was chicken and no mole. Even Chile relleno arrived 20 minutes after dinner-cold-soggy-very little cheese - just awful. Waitress never checked on our meal until 20 minutes after it arrived - with half meals incorrect. I would have given them a zero but hips and salsa were ok. AVOID THIS PLACE! Plenty of other better restaurants within one Mike radius.
