Remarkably consistent for the last twenty five years, i've been coming here.
I don't know how, but they always seem to manage and to find the best servers.
Their food is top, notch and again always consistently served beautifully. And quickly.
Although they'd have daily specials, it would nice to see some new changes to the menu.

The food was very good! I came with my son who is a cook at a fine dining place in the city and we were both pleasantly surprised. The ribs and prime rib were both very tasty and cooked to perfection!

Cold fries. Slow service. This is the second disappointment for the last two times. Something has happened and not for the better.

J Alexander’s in Cool Springs is a standout upscale dining spot in the bustling Franklin, Tennessee area, conveniently located at 1721 Galleria Blvd, just off the busy CoolSprings Galleria mall corridor. This contemporary American restaurant embodies refined comfort, blending historic Southern elegance with modern culinary flair in a warm, inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for everything from casual lunches to special date nights or business dinners.
The menu shines with wood-fired specialties, including prime steaks grilled to perfection, fresh seafood like grilled salmon or redfish, and hearty classics such as pork tenderloin or signature crab cakes. Diners rave about standout items like the spinach queso appetizer, tender pork chops, and generous salads, all prepared from scratch with high-quality ingredients. Portions are satisfying, and the award-winning wine list pairs beautifully with the dishes, elevating every meal.
What sets J. Alexander’s apart is its commitment to genuine hospitality—attentive servers who know the menu inside out, a polished yet relaxed vibe with comfortable seating, and consistent execution that makes guests feel valued. Reviews highlight the fresh, cooked-to-order quality, with many calling it one of the top spots in the Nashville suburb for reliable excellence (often scoring 4.4–4.7 across platforms like Tripadvisor, Yelp, and OpenTable).
Whether you’re shopping at the nearby mall, catching a quick bite, or celebrating an occasion, J. Alexander’s delivers an unforgettable experience without pretension. Open daily with extended hours (typically 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. most days), it’s a go-to for locals and visitors seeking elevated American fare in the heart of Cool Springs. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends, to secure your table at this beloved Franklin gem.

Make sure you get reservations because if you walk in you are treated as you don’t exist! The lady running the host area is a robot and says everything on repeat when you ask why you haven’t moved on the list. Their system is definitely flawed and even reservations were waiting 30 mins. Such a shame to have a nice place to eat and getting a seat is near to impossible due to incompetence.

J. Alexander’s is usually one of our favorite restaurants because of the quality, consistency, and overall experience — which is why I’m leaving this feedback. We took my mom here last night for her birthday, and while we’ll absolutely be back, this visit wasn’t quite up to the standard we’re used to.
The biggest issue was the pacing/timing of the meal. Our salads came out while we were still eating our appetizer, and the appetizer plate was taken away even though we were still finishing the spinach queso dip. Then more chips were brought out after the appetizer was already cleared. Our entrees (two Maui ribeyes, a pork chop, and roasted chicken) arrived before we were even halfway through our salads, which made the table crowded and felt rushed overall.
Food-wise, the Maui ribeyes were fantastic and my parents loved them. However, the pork chop was cooked through but not warmed all the way through, the roasted chicken was dry, and the broccoli with the pork chop was overdone. The mashed potatoes were tasty and creamy, but a bit looser/soupier than expected.
On the positive side, the service and hospitality were great — everyone was kind and professional, which we truly appreciated.
I’m sharing this because we’ve had so many excellent experiences here and want J. Alexander’s to stay top-tier. We’ll be back, and I’m hoping next time is more in line with what we know this place can be.

I have loved J. Alexander's since it opened in the 90s, and I still do. I also understand that over time, things change and evolve, like the addition of their wonderful pizza oven! However, two things have changed recently that I have to object to. First is the loss of the pico de gallo~ it was the perfect compliment to the Mexico City queso. Second is the chicken pasta soup. I ordered a bowl today and it was extremely thick and creamy. That soup has always been a go-to starter, especially in winter. The new version is very heavy, but was ironically less hearty than it was previously. Before, it was filled with chunks of chicken, matchstick carrots, celery, onions, and penne pasta. I implore you to dial back on the heaviness so this can remain a lovely first course. As always, the staff is amazing and I continue to love the restaurant!

This steakhouse exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked in, the service was welcoming and professional. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked exactly as ordered—rich, tender, and bursting with flavor. Sides were just as impressive, and the ambiance made the entire experience feel upscale without being stuffy. Worth every penny!
