They have really good pastries. They’ve been around for a long time and every time I go in to get some breakfast I feel like I’m back in my childhood. Their prices are good for the food that you get. Their staff is really well trained and knowledgeable about how to give the customer the best experience they should have. Atmosphere is really amazing feels like being at home with fresh food being served.
Wish they had more menu options, pretty limited, but the food was still good! A little expensive for the portions (at least on my end) but the atmosphere makes up for it.
The place had a unique look, but it was loud (you could hear the dishes being cleaned) had sticky tables that weren’t cleaned well between patrons, and it feels dirty. I was still hopeful for good food though. It looked like a local hole-in-the-wall that would have good eats. Instead I was pretty let down. I had the reuben with pasta salad and my wife had the famous chicken salad. The pasta salad tasted like noodles and beans. Nothing else. Very little seasoning was used and not even salt and pepper helped make up for the bland taste. The reuben was good. Probably the only satisfying part of our meal. The chicken salad had a good texture, but also had little to no flavor. The homemade sourdough bread was slightly stale and chewy and was also bland. I just had my mother-in-laws sourdough the day prior so I had some recent bread to compare it to. Overall, I wish I liked this place, but it definitely wasn’t worth $20 per person when all we had was a meal, side, and a drink. If we spent $20-$25 here for two people I probably wouldn’t be as disappointed.
Triple Crown bakery is closed on Mondays so I tried Merridees I ordered the cinnamon rolls and almond wheels. Better to wait for Triple Crown to open. Their bakery goods were old and the flavor did not taste homemade.
Merridee’s Breadbasket: Few Clean Tables, Obnoxiously Loud Kitchen, and A Sneaky Upcharge.
On a sunny Saturday afternoon this April, my wife and I ventured into Merridee’s Breadbasket for a late lunch. There were plenty of enticing items on the menu. I chose the Patty Melt, which according to the menu came with one side. The woman at the cashier entered my choice in the computer, asked if I wanted a drink (I did) and gave me the total. I said, “Don’t you want to know what my side is?” She said, “It comes with chips, but you can sub for another side.” “Baked Mac and cheese would be great, please.”
She read the total again, which sounded a little high to me, and I tapped my card. She didn’t offer a receipt, so I asked her for one. Examining the charges as I walked to the soda fountain, I realized she had added a $2 upcharge for the Mac and cheese. There was no mention of this on the menu and she didn’t say anything to me about it. She just added it.
Then we had to find a table, which ultimately was quite simple because every table that was vacant was also littered with dirty dishes from earlier patrons. There were two open tables that were clean: a large four-top in the middle of the dining room and a two-top in a quiet corner. We chose the two-top and were grateful it was clean.
A short while later we noticed a solitary bus person clearing and cleaning the dirty tables. Then our food arrived. It looked really tasty and we happily started eating. Within a couple of minutes, we heard the sink turn on in the kitchen, which turned out to be on the other side of the wall where we were seated. For the next 30 minutes, the noise from the kitchen - booms, bangs, the clatter of silverware and plates - overwhelmed our conversation. There were moments when it was easier to eat in silence than try to talk over the din.
In the end, our good was, as my father used to say, “absolutely average”. The Mac and cheese was bland, as was my wife’s Cobb salad and blue cheese dressing. The patty melt was substantial, if a little greasy.
I think it will be a long time before we try Merridee’s again. We can have an average experience anywhere, and there are many other options in downtown Franklin.
First time coming here after walking by many times. I got the cobb salad and the ingredients were ok (missing bacon which was listed on the menu). The salad and dressing were tasteless. My husband ordered a sandwich and they charged extra for a side even though the menu said the sandwich comes with a side. Very few pastries to choose from and they honestly didn't look that good. The restaurant was very dirty. We were some of the few people there and all tables had leftover food and plates except for one. The dishwasher behind the wall was throwing glass and plastic the whole time we were there... it was so loud, it was hard to carry on a conversation. Felt like nobody cared about customers. Too pricey for that!
Great place. I prefer Meridee’s to Puckets next door. The food is better and Meridee’s has espresso drinks. Breakfast as least on Friday, is done at 11:00 so we had to order lunch. I had the gold rush (iced) and the feta and spinach crescent with hashbrown casserole, both of which were excellent. We also had the sticky bun, spicy chicken wrap, which was spicier than expected as well as the curry chicken salad on top of a house salad and that was good as well. We will definitely be back!
The chicken salad sandwich was terrible. Bland, no flavor
Shabby tables, incredibly loud noises from the kitchen. Don't bother ordering the tuna sandwich. It's plain an mediocre without flavor.
Great spot for coffee and pastries. Recommended!

It’s a little restaurant that serves the best food and it’s not a big restaurant but it’s a nice restaurant
I got to be honest and say it was very underwhelming and disappointing. The pastry was dry and stale. After hearing so much hype about this place, I was really looking forward to trying it but…not worth the hype. It was awful. On a positive note, the man behind the counter was very nice.
Delicious desserts and the Mac and cheese is so freaking gooooood!!!!
Food was delicious. We have biscuits and gravy and French toast. The restaurant is in a old historic looking building. We loved everything. Also a nice boutique connects to the restaurant. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.
My first time here in very disappointed biscuits were burnt and hard hash browns were burnt eggs were burnt everything was burnt The bakery probably the best bakery you'll ever go to place is beautiful but breakfast was probably the worst breakfast I ever had
