Went to Knoxville for the weekend. Found Clancy's, great decor, nice bar, service etc. Food, mmmh not so much. The Ruben looked great. I decided on Bangers and Mash. What I got could only be described as a bowl of slop! And the Cottage/Shepards pie wasn't much better. A focus on better food presentation, taste and value is in order. Drink but don't here.

Went to Clancy’s, Knoxville last night (17th March 2024) and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement.I ordered a pint of Guinness, and on the waitress’s recommendation ordered the bangers and mash. So, first things first, the Guinness was mediocre at best, and served in a plastic cup. I guess it was in plastic due to it being St Paddy’s day. The cup was about 14oz tops. The bangers and mash, when served, could best be described as slop. Mashed potato, served in a plastic bowl, topped with sliced sausage and smothered in gravy. It looked dreadful and tasted no better. Someone asked me if t was the Irish stew it was so bad. After 3 mouthfuls I refused to eat any more and asked the waitress to take it away. I did tell her it was the worst bangers and mash I’d ever had in my life. As a Brit, I’ve eaten a lot of bangers and mash so would consider my self more than familiar with the dish and my expectations. In fairness to the waitress she said she wouldn’t charge me for the food, but when I asked for the bill, the receipt said “Guinness 20oz”.Now, I’ve drunk a lot of mediocre Guinness in the last 40 plus years, but I’ve never been served 14oz and charged for 20oz. I can put up with the beer not being the best, but I can’t do with being ripped off , by being under-served and over-charged. And at $7 to boot. In the UK this would be illegal, maybe it is in the USA, I don’t know. What I do know, however, is that it’s unacceptable, and cashing in on an event day. It would be interesting to know how much was sold that day, and how much extra revenue this produced.I wish there was somewhere here to post the picture of what I was served for evidence.I travel to Knoxville three or four time a year, but it would be fair to say that I will never visit this place again.

It's a great place to meet friends before a game or a downtown show! The fish and chips were excellent.

Located right on Gay Street just down from the Tennessee Theatre is Clancy's your classic Irish bar. They have really good servers and cold beer. We stopped here a few times during happy hour and we sat at a table in the back rather than the bar. They have really nice decor but they get busy and it seems a little chaotic. You can tell they are used to big crowds because even though I thought the service would suck, they brought our drinks fast. We tried the beer and wine from the happy hour menu. One reason we chose Clancy's was it was Friday during lent. The fish and chips were hot, crisp and so good. We had some of the cottage pie on another day it was not the best. Enough said. This is a fun environment to enjoy a meal or beverage. Get both!

We will definitely be back. Randomly chose this spot for our date night and was pleasantly surprised. Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Chelsea provided the best service we’ve had in a while! We loved their selection of whiskey and bourbons.

Atmosphere is great and drink are consistent! The food is highly questionable. I've had shepherds pie many times and this was not it, looked like a bowl of chilli with a glob of mashed potatoes, yuck! Bangers & mash came in a soup bowl...what the....!

Of course we arrived late and wanted food somewhere in downtown Knoxville… This place did not disappoint! We ordered the mushrooms, wings, the Ruben and the clucking chicken sandwich. Get there before 11 on the weekends to avoid the late night crowd.

One of my all time favorite places to go! I love the coziness of the bar, I love how you can go in a stranger and leave knowing people. It can get crowded but, it is totally worth it! The food is good, although there is much on their menu I have not tried. The drinks! The drinks are handcrafted and the bartenders are friendly. If you are in Knoxville, you gotta go to Clancy's!!!

Went in for a small bite and drinks after a show downtown and this was such a perfect stop! The place was packed, so we found some stools and expected to be waiting a minute but a server came over almost immediately! You could tell the staff is used to the large crowds. Big selection of beer and whiskey and tasty pub style food!
