Food was just ok and the ambience was ok. For the money, it was mediocre. Probably won't go back.

We love Kaizen. Aside from sometimes being able to purchase their homemade hot sauces in bottle form, which have always been great, they have really excellent food. Today I had the dan-dan noodles which have been excellent every time. Be advised that it is a cold noodle dish like you might have had with a sesame noodle or so forth. Delicious. If you are into sake and so forth they have a truly excellent collection of sake, shōchū, Japanese whisky etc. if you like dry sake I recommend Bushido - Way of the Warrior, and not just because of the name ;) It is an excellent dry sake served cold. But ask your server, we have never had anything but excellent service there. Down in Knoxville Old City where The Crown and Goose used to be, with that great outdoor space. If you are in the area highly recommend. Wife loves the bang-bang shrimp bun.

Some of the best Asian fusion that you can get in the Knoxville area. Great service. Fun environment. Great patio for warmer nights. A must when visiting Knoxville.

Service great, atmosphere 100, food was okay. I think I was just expecting something different.Dietary restrictions: Fish allergy, there were no alternative broths for a dish I wanted.Kid-friendliness: Not very kid friendly. No kids menu, kids drink selection (uncarbonated or un-caffinated) and no training chopsticks available.

I had a superb experience this weekend. The Pad Ke Mao was seasoned perfectly, just enough spice (but beware if you have a mild palate!), tender noodles. Our server was friendly and helped us through the menu. Looking forward to the next time already.

Food and atmosphere were outstanding. Thai sausage buns, gyoza and the lemongrass noodles with chicken were unbelievably good.

I really enjoyed my dinner at Kaizen! The atmosphere is very calm and laidback. The service was great. I ordered the fried eggplant bun and the mushroom fried rice. Both were delicious. The portion size for the fried rice is enough for to take some leftovers! It was well seasoned too. I would have liked more mushrooms and more of the curry flavor it had as well.

I’ve ordered quite a few times from here and this time for takeout I tried the double fried pork and a Thai sausage bun that I just ate too fast before I even took a picture entre with fried peppers and it was SO DAMN

Lemongrass and chicken noodles were swimming in sauce that was so salty and greasy that it was difficult to eat. Also do not recommend the appetizer steamed buns containing tasteless food in grease saturated batter and eggplant was the worst one. Quality similar to a poor quality chinese restaurant with prices of a high end eatery.

Our absolute favorite spot in Knoxville. The atmosphere inside is eclectic & fun; the patio is beautiful for the warmer days & they have space heaters for colder months. The food is AMAZING. We highly recommend the dry fried eggplant (as a starter or the bun) and the chef specials are always on point. We come here often and are always pleased with the food and kind service! A must-try in Knoxville if you're into Japanese-style food with some great twists.

Absolutely delicious!!! We loved everything we tried. I didn’t get any pictures of the food because it was gone so quickly. Service was great and we didn’t get rushed. Definitely will be back.Atmosphere is the only thing I’d knock down one and that’s because the type of building/room doesn’t absorb sound so it got very loud when it was crowded (which can’t be helped). No big deal but something to consider depending on what type of experience you want.

Overall was good but not “Wow”. The presentation of the food was fantastic!!! But favor is a personal choice and we just didn’t love the seasoning of the food. Everything was cooked correctly and we really wanted to love the food but it just didn’t hit right with us. The service also was just ok. Several times of waiting around with no one around to refill a glass or when we had our food they didn’t come back in a couple minutes. Consequently, we wanted something to put on the food and no one was around for about 10 mins.Good place and would try again.

Since moving here, we’re in Old City every other weekend. We miss many of the Asian dishes in NYC and Kaizen looked promising because the atmosphere and the menu look ideal.Unfortunately, the food was a total miss. The wait staff suggested the Stir fry lemongrass chicken noodle soup, and it was bland with Frito chips on top of it. My wife had the duck noodle soup and everything had one flavor, instead of being more complex. The gyozas were pockets of oil that we couldn’t finish. We wish the food was better but will not be returning.
