I'm traveling around Knoxville looking for a good bowl of gumbo. My backup plan is to look for a delicious plate of shrimp and grits. This is the reason for my first visit to this restaurant.OMG ?! I have found gold with this restaurant. They served me the best plate of shrimp and grits I have eaten in a long time! It was a huge serving with lots of jumbo shrimp and andouille sausage. Today was the first time my husband and I ate at Southern Grit. We got there about 15 minutes before opening and there was already a line wrapped around the building. Once they opened the doors the staff was very fast at getting everyone seated and as soon as we were seated our waiter was sitting down ice waters in front of us. The food was gentrified Southern offerings and very good. A bit crowded but that's to be expected on a Saturday. Service was good. Bar service slow but it was crowded . Would recommend.
