The food was gentrified Southern offerings and very good. A bit crowded but that's to be expected on a Saturday. Service was good. Bar service slow but it was crowded . Would recommend.

I ordered carryout. When it was time, I call the number like I was instructed to do in the email. I told the woman on the phone that I had arrived and could she bring it out. The response was, "um, noooo, we don't really do that. We ask all our customers to come in." I told her I was just following the email and she said it was wrong and she didn't know why it said that. So I parked and went in. The same young lady at the stand told me to go to the bar. She wasn't busy, she was on her phone, the restaurant wasn't busy. Poor service. Such a bummer because the food is pretty good. Won't be back.

I'm traveling around Knoxville looking for a good bowl of gumbo. My backup plan is to look for a delicious plate of shrimp and grits. This is the reason for my first visit to this restaurant.OMG ?! I have found gold with this restaurant. They served me the best plate of shrimp and grits I have eaten in a long time! It was a huge serving with lots of jumbo shrimp and andouille sausage. The creole sauce was just spicy enough to make it perfect! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys the Charleston style shrimp and grits! I will definitely be returning!

Today was the first time my husband and I ate at Southern Grit. We got there about 15 minutes before opening and there was already a line wrapped around the building. Once they opened the doors the staff was very fast at getting everyone seated and as soon as we were seated our waiter was sitting down ice waters in front of us. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. We both ordered the Penny McGill one with tenders and one with sausage both with a side of fruit. It was so good. Everything was delicious, but it was a little pricey for breakfast or brunch. We will still definitely go back next time we're on town.

Great food! While the wait was a bit long the waiter was super kind and understanding. The chicken and waffles were delicious. Ghost pepper tenders were fire. Mimosas for the table was only $12, which was a steal. Highly recommend giving Southern Grit a visit. Oh their fried biscuits were a solid starter course.

Yes!!!! Tasty food! “Pappy” blueberry/lemon with cheddar grits for the wife and “Penny McGill” biscuits/gravy/hash/eggs with cheddar grits for me. Uummmm good! Jade was our server. She was very attentive.Edit1): “Southern Mess”!!! Yes!!! Tasty! (Great pig-tails on nice server.)
