We’ve been loyal customers of the Sonic on Mountain Grove Drive in Knoxville for quite some time and have always had good experiences—until today. Unfortunately, this visit was so disappointing and disrespectful that we feel compelled to share what happened.
We went through the drive-thru and ordered two orders of cheese sticks and an order of onion rings. After paying, we sat at the window for 10 minutes without receiving our food. We could actually see our bag of food sitting on the counter, but the employee working the window ignored it completely.
After several minutes, my husband politely said through the closed window, “Can we have our food? It’s sitting right there.” Eventually, the employee handed us the bag and muttered something under his breath before immediately closing and locking the window. When my husband asked, “What did you just say to me?” the employee responded through the glass but we still could not hear what he was saying. My husband then said, “Open the window and say that again.” At that point, I asked him to drive away so we could speak with the manager.
As we were pulling away, the employee flipped us off through the drive-thru window. We were shocked and honestly upset by how unprofessional and aggressive this behavior was. We immediately called the store and spoke to the manager, who was apologetic and said she would address the issue. She asked if there was anything she could do to make it right, and we told her we weren’t looking for compensation—just to make sure she was aware of how her staff was behaving.
We don’t normally leave negative reviews, but this experience crossed the line. We hope the issue is taken seriously so no one else is treated this way.

This is THE WORST Sonic I have ever been to. No napkins or utensils in the bag. A HUGE HAIR in my husbands burger. They forgot our hot fudge sundae. Then they wouldn’t answer the button. We had to go around to the window to ask for it. And then the fudge was cold. They must’ve forgot to turn on the machine. Very very bad unpleasant experience.

The service was rude and disrespectful. They tried to serve a chili cheese coney dog without the chili and coney sauce. When asked to fix it the door was slammed in my face.

A $6.99 Bacon, double cheese, smash burger. Not a smash burger. One mangled piece of bacon. 1/4 piece of lettuce. Dry as the Sahara. Prepared by an obviously high kid with nasty dreds. I'm not eating this garbage, but I knew there would be zero point in complaining. Fully staffed by teenagers who couldn't possibly care any less.

Take a close look at this poorly made $9 dollar sandwhich. Absolutely pathetic and I can't believe a half slice of bacon, a few onions and a teaspoon of sauce. This is the kind of reason which motivates people to say they won't make the same mistake twice. I should not have gave in to my 8 year old whose food was equally disappointing. I hope things get better

I was having a few issues with the app and was just trying to ask a few questions and the lady was rude af to me the whole time. And when I was about to leave, she asked if I wanted to try again in one of the pull in lanes and I said no I'm just going to get food somewhere else. She was like "well you can't do it here" and I literally told her "No shit, I was obviously going to leave". This is abysmal. Customer service in fast food is garbage. Either pay your employees better or don't but I'm done. I rather eat gas station food at this point then deal with another rude af fast food worker. I work hard for the money I use at your establishments. Do better
The fact that I'm actually taking the time to do a review speaks volumes. Went through the drive thru around 10:30 last night with my two elderly parents that had been wanting Sonic for quiet some time now. I'm not sure of the man's name that was working the window because after being disrespected and left speechless he refused to tell me his name, get the manager, and kept shutting the window while I was in fact needing a complete refund as he also refused to give me my receipt. I understand people have bad days but there's no justification for just being rude and ugly and hurting people's feelings.
