Dragon city is the best place to stay near the dragon dan goes above and beyond to makes sure all guests are taken care of the rooms are very clean and comfortable they feel like home and are stocked with snacks that are complimentary and they leave a little treat in the refrigerator every guest we met including us when we stepped in the rooms we all said “WOW THIS IS NICE “ also the best place to eat is the dragon pit that is part of dragon city Dan makes the best food 10 out of 10 i highly recommend dragon city for your stay and this will be the only place i stay when i am at the tail of the dragon

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Dragon Coty for 5 nights near the end of September 2025. The original plan was just two nights, but due to some mechanical issues with my motorcycle, I ended up extending my stay several times. The staff there and the owner were both incredibly accommodating to my changing schedule and even managed to keep me in the same room which I greatly appreciated.
The rooms were everything that I wanted for a place to lay my head at the end of a full day riding in the smokies. Warm showers, an amazing welcome tray with snacks and even hot cocoa, and even fresh cookies in the fridge.
I had the opportunity to eat in the restaurant twice and the food was wonderful. Breakfast was hot and flavorful and a burger for dinner one evening was the perfect meal to enjoy and watch the cars pass by on their way to ride the Dragon.

This is a great little place to stay. Perfectly location for what we was doing as we travel. Wish the restaurant next door was open a little later, but it is what it is. Given the opportunity, I would stay here again.

Feeling confused, is this a camp site or a hotel with beds? How much is the hotel with a bed ?

I didnt stay at rhe hotel but stopped on my way to ride the tail. The diner and souvenir ahop is run by a very nice fellow that was incredibly helpful. I was visiting two weeks after Labor Day so there weren't many people around.
The shop is very clean and well maintained. The souvenirs were plentiful and they had aome items that i wish i had purchased as i didnt find them at any of the other shops at Deals Gap.

Conveniently located at the start of the Dragon Trail route in a beautiful TN wooded area. It's in a rural setting, but only 15-20 mins away from Maryville, which has all the conveniences of a small city. It's also less than an hour to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated for car and bike enthusiasts, and furnished with a full kitchenette. The apartment size refrigerator with a full size freezer is a nice change from the standard small hotel size fridges.
The staff is friendly and checked in daily to see if there was anything we needed. The owner even agreed to keep the kitchen open late one evening when we returned later than planned from our day trip. Service is over and above normal expectations.
Lastly, this was our 2nd extended stay at Dragon City, and both times the other guests were friendly and outgoing. We met others from across the states from Michigan to Texas. We had fun meeting new people while enjoying the fire pit area.
If you're looking for a fancy, run of the mill hotel, this may not hit the mark, but if you're interested in a unique stay in a gorgeous area with clean rooms and personalized service, Dragon City hits all the marks. We will definitely be returning for future vacations.

Have the philly and some onion rings huge portion, filled me for night. Mandy and Dan really go the extra mile. Take the time to like their page, see their links for helping the cause through Mission Phoenix to help those suffering from PTSD. Be sure to get yourself a thermos cup or shirt, very clean rest rooms, open air dinning with a roof on the nice days its amazing. Soon to be getting zero beer I hope as I love one or two when Im riding and am responsible enough to choose wisely. Tons of fun games to engage in at your table while you eat after you order at the register and get your number. When pulling in remember to look out for people doing a photo with the smoke breathing Dragon. Ride safe, and be sure to support the people that support our troops, Check out their amazing motel deals as well. If your a vet, give them a call if you want to come stay you get a special deal.

This is our second trip here! We went out of our way this trip just to stay at Dragon City and added an extra night. They have been absolutely AMAZING with any help or questions I have had. The rooms are great and the hospitality is the absolute best!! Go next door to the Pit Stop, the food is great and Dan and his son are so nice!
