My wife and I love their pulled pork sandwiches. Their BBQ ribs are good as well. We will stop here as often as we can.

Tucked in the back of a truck stop off I-40 in western Tennessee, Longtown Country Cafe doesn’t advertise itself loudly—and it doesn’t need to. You’re not looking for a restaurant sign. You’re looking for a truck stop. Once inside, head to the back, past the snacks and diesel gear, and you’ll find it: the epitome of roadside Southern food.

The standout? Smoked ribs. Easily as good as anything you’d find at a full-service joint. Tender, smoky, solid bark, thick pink smoke ring. A little fatty, sure—but in the good way. Not fully rendered, but melt-in-your-mouth rich.

Sides were solid, if underseasoned. Salt fixed that. You’re not getting ham hocks in your greens or any secrets in the lima beans—but again, it’s a cafe in a truck stop. Expectations reset accordingly.

Portions are big. Price was better. Half rack, four sides, and a wedge of sweet coooorrnbread—less than $25. Yeah, coooorrnbread. You read that right. Sweet, cakey, muffin-style Southern gold. Not what I grew up on, but no complaints.

Local drivers clearly know the spot. It’s flanked by Pilots on both exits, so most travelers miss it. But if you’re willing to veer just a bit off the main road, Longtown is the kind of stop you talk about later. Worth it. Every time.

Don’t let the exterior fool ya. Sure it’s a truck stop , potholes big enough to lose a mid size sedan in. Charge a trucker to park overnight ( at least it ain’t a parking club scam ) that we don’t get reimbursed for but I’m not here long enough for that anyway.

The food is amazing ! I usually get the western omelette with grits and toast although if I’m here in the afternoon I’ll get a burger and fries and they are all terrific..!

I’ve noticed they buy a lot of food from SYSCO and that says a lot. Definitely not the cheapest you can get but in my humble opinion the best.. ok I must confess I was a driver for 12 years so I’m a bit biased.

Looking at the menu , there’s several things I’d eat.
The buffet is fresh with an assortment of country foods.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ..!

Went in for a simple dinner! Fried Bologna/eggs/hashbrowns. Black lady cook treated me like white trucker trash from the moment I walked inside. Waited over a hr, and still no dinner. 4 other people came in after me and received their orders before me. I had enough, paid for my drink and walked out. That lady does not need to have a job in this cafe.

This restaurant does not take orders after 8.30pm. You will feel very uncomfortable if you order after 8pm and try to eat here. They put the chairs on top of the tables and give you the get out of here vibe. Not a we love our customers and go the extra mile kindof place.

We missed breakfast at the hotel. Our bad, but we saw this on Google Maps. Now I have eaten at many places like this when I worked but this place has a unique style.
The two locals strongly suggested eating here. My wife felt alittle hesitant, but now I was more than willing to go inside and eat. Half gas station/ half diner. We were greeted by the cook/owner. An extremely nice woman. We each had incredible BLT sandwiches. The surrounding area was nothing flashy. Just real America with real people.
It's definitely a great stop.
