Central BBQ - Downtown Reviews
Just came from Alabama working in Memphis building cell towers. Me and my buddies came looking for the best bbq in Memphis and got some TRASH brisket cut 1/16” so it wouldn’t be so tuff and tasted like it was boiled DRY ribs and turkey that was mid AT BEST for $50.00. Man I shoulda called the police after yall hustled me like that.
The ribs were absolutely not good sauce would not help the dryness.
And trust me they put enough on it trying to cover it up but they were tuff to chew!!!
We brought our family here and boy did it disappoint. We our entire family littles who are 4 + 7 enjoy bbq and it was a struggle to eat the food. Sauce did not help the best thing on the plate was the ranch dressing and carrots. Ribs brisket chicken coleslaw all bland. We hope this isn’t a great representation of Memphis bbq!

Central BBQ - Downtown is a well-known Memphis BBQ spot that offers mouth-watering dishes in a friendly and lively atmosphere. The half rack of ribs is a standout, falling off the bones and smothered in spicy BBQ sauce. The excellent ribs and delicious beef brisket are really good and tender. The BBQ beans, cole slaw, and Mac N Cheese are popular sides that complement the meals well, and the greens are perfection. Pulled pork sandwiches are also a favorite, featuring tender meat and mild sauce. The dry rub wings and the honey barbecue wings are delicious with generous portions. Ordering is walk up at the counter and you help yourself to soft drinks. The restaurant has a great soul vibe and an established flavor that makes it one of the few authentic Memphis BBQ joints that stand out from the rest. Visitors and locals alike enjoy the experience, with the staff being extremely friendly and accommodating. The covered, dog-friendly patio is perfect for relaxing during hot days, and the restaurant’s central location makes it walkable from many downtown spots. After a delicious meal, guests can easily walk to the nearby National Civil Rights Museum. The place is busy, with indoor and outdoor seating available, and offers good fries and slaw, along with standout sausage. Overall, Central BBQ - Downtown is a popular destination for great food and a fun atmosphere, always busy and well worth a visit.
