Magnolia & May is an underrated gem in Memphis, offering a 10/10 experience in a cute and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant, transformed from a house, provides great service, with staff who genuinely enjoy sharing details about the dishes. The jalapeño dip is a must-try, and the Redfish entree remains a standout. Guests can enjoy happy hour with half-price wine, and gluten-free options like bread pudding are available. The menu also features dishes like the heirloom tomato sandwich with a side salad, which many find excellent, and the patty melt with fries, which is highly praised. The eggplant bacon dip is so good that some guests order a second serving, and the drinks, themed around the Golden Girl show, are all amazing. The restaurant makes its own English muffins and sausage, and offers desserts like chocolate gelato and gluten-free bread pudding. The okonomiyaki, a savory cabbage pancake topped with a sunny-side-up egg, crispy pork belly, pistachios, and house-made soy aioli, continues to surprise diners with its bold flavors. Despite a past incident on slippery stairs, Magnolia & May remains a wonderful spot for exquisite food prepared to perfection. The friendly staff and excellent service, along with memorable dishes like the distinguished guest breakfast and mustard and cornmeal fried catfish, make it a hidden gem that deserves a visit, especially during the holiday season.
