It's just a simple local joint with homemade soul food. It's delicious and pretty reasonably priced for the portion sizes. Like, I got a TON of food for 20 bucks. I got the smothered porkchop with rice, yams, and mac and cheese. That plate came with a cornbread muffin. I also added a side of broccoli and cheese. Generally, everything was delicious, and I'd definitely eat here again. There were some things I might do differently if I were cooking the food, but that's the beauty of eating other people's cooking. It doesn't have to be made how I would make it. I get to experience someone else's interpretation of how they cook the same foods. For example, I use more brown sugar in my yams, and thats my preference, but theirs were still very good. Overall, it was a great experience.

I normally go to Marvin’s when I want soul food but since I was on close to downtown, I decided to give them a try. There wasn’t a long line like I’m use to and the selections were smaller. I got two plate with baked chicken (half), turkey necks, greens, black-eyed peas, and lima beans. At first glance, I thought the turkey were neck bones. I wasn’t alone bc the guy in front of me thought the same. They were seasoned but I didn’t like the fact that they were chopped small. The chicken was seriously dry. I couldn’t eat the wing. The beans, peas and greens had no seasoning all but I definitely understand with the rising cases of high blood pressure in our community. But the greens taste really terrible. I thought I was eating chittlins. And the food was weirdly cold as well. All in all, they’re ok. Stay away from the greens.

Stood in line just to receive cold food. Customer service at that food part is terrible and I am the type to leave when I encounter poor Customer service. For a company that has been there awhile should get better not worse. No condiments (salt, pepper etc)

In the Memphis area for my birthday. Was told about this location from the hotel staff. The food was HOT and fresh, seasoned to perfection. I ordered neck bones, green beans and yams. Customer service and hospitality was outstanding. Yes, the building is a little rundown, and it's difficult to maintain 6ft social distance in such a small area. But put your mask and gloves on, and get ready for your taste buds to be highly satisfied! My next visit to Memphis, this will definitely be one my stop.

We recently dined at a restaurant in town while traveling, and unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The establishment was uncomfortably dirty, with sticky tables and a conspicuous lack of cleanliness that made the experience less enjoyable. Despite the unkempt surroundings, the staff was friendly and eager to serve, though it felt more like they were charming us while charging exorbitant prices.

At $15 a plate, the meals were laughably underwhelming, lacking flavor and freshness. As for dessert, I was shocked to find that a tiny piece of cake cost $4 and crumbled apart the moment I tried to take a bite. It was disappointing to say the least. Overall, I left feeling ripped off and regretting spending my hard-earned money in a place that didn’t meet even the most basic dining standards. Save your cash and look elsewhere!

Food was ok. Not the best it could have been the left overd after the lunch crowd but the rice was must and wet and the drink was too small for $1.99. Banana pudding was awesome

Loved the food! I came with some of my church group it was truly soul food! My smothered pork chops were finger licking good 😋! The service was so welcoming and friendly! The atmosphere was historic. I read about black history while I enjoyed my meal. And some of .y church group etched the football game on television.

The peach cobbler was good but everything else looked unappealing. My sweet potatoes was hard, cabbage had too much vinegar. Broccoli and cheese was delicious. I did not enjoy the baked turkey leg, but Rib tips was good. Memphis just don’t have good soul food compared to my family lol.
