I never heard of Pops until 2025. When I walked into the place, it was clean and cozy. It's a small establishment, and I’m quite big, but they took my order without any hassle. Initially, I didn’t have enough money, but the staff kindly made my order anyway. I quickly grabbed a few extra dollars from the ATM. When I got my food, everything was hot and fresh. I really enjoyed the tamales; they were packed with meat and easy to extract from the paper.
In comparison, my experience at Hattie’s was very disappointing. The place had an unpleasant smell, and the tamales stuck to the paper, making it messy to get them out. Overall, Pops provided a much better experience and superior food.

I'd read that the hot tamales were just the best. So, I decided to try them and make my own assessment. We'll, I was very disappointed. There was no meat in them. They were bland tasting. I wasted my $8. I should have gone to Hatties. Next time, I will.
My mother and I arrived at Pop's tamales 20 minutes early before opening. The owner was very nice to open the door and welcomed us in. We were excited to try the tamales and were hyping the owners up. We ordered 12 tamales for $24. As we arrived home to eat the food we noticed that it was 5% of meat and 95% of corn meal in every one. We were very disappointed and will not be returning.
