I never heard of Pops until 2025. When I walked into the place, it was clean and cozy. It's a small establishment, and I’m quite big, but they took my order without any hassle. Initially, I didn’t have enough money, but the staff kindly made my order anyway. I quickly grabbed a few extra dollars from the ATM. When I got my food, everything was hot and fresh. I really enjoyed the tamales; they were packed with meat and easy to extract from the paper.
In comparison, my experience at Hattie’s was very disappointing. The place had an unpleasant smell, and the tamales stuck to the paper, making it messy to get them out. Overall, Pops provided a much better experience and superior food.

I'd read that the hot tamales were just the best. So, I decided to try them and make my own assessment. We'll, I was very disappointed. There was no meat in them. They were bland tasting. I wasted my $8. I should have gone to Hatties. Next time, I will.
Best tamales around. Pop's has been in business for well over 30 years.
