Buildings cold, had three different servers and the young man with a child was the only person to get our things we asked for because the other 2 servers came and left. Food was terrible!

šš Lord indeed have mercy.
Listen⦠fried-in-fatback shrimp is not what anybody signed up forāMemphis or not. That level of grease where you can pour it off?? Thatās not shrimp and grits, thatās a culinary crime scene. And grits looking like a roux is just⦠no maāam. Grits are supposed to hug you, not slide off the plate like gravy.
And the waiter not caring? Thatās the part that really seals it. Folks will forgive a kitchen mistake, but indifference will have you mentally writing a Yelp review before the fork hits the table. š
Now š AUTOMATIC SLIM though?? Whew. When you have to put the bad meal next to a truly good one, the contrast is LOUD. Amazing food will make you realize just how wrong the other place was. āAutomatic Slimā sounds like it delivered flavor, balance, and respect to the plate. šš½

Grits if that's what they call them not good. Fried egg in deep fryer ,terrible procesded sausage patty and throw diced potatoes to the dog. Watch out prices on menu do not match bill.On the good note pancakes, bacon and biscuit were good plus our waitress was very kind. I did get refund from price switch 3 almost unusable dollars (told that's all they had)

I would like to extend a special thank-you to our wonderful server, Jelieesa. We visited today and thoroughly enjoyed every dish ā the catfish and grits, the Charleston grits, and the cinnamon roll stack were all exceptional. Everything was absolutely delicious.

i am visiting memphis for the holidays and i was looking for a good brunch spot nearby. the pictures on google make the food look appetizing, but the actual food in the restaurant looks nothing like the pictures. the french toast was unevenly cut and looked like six slices of sunbeam giant bread with a little sprinkle of cinnamon and a splash of milk on top lightly griddled for five seconds. the Charleston grits did not come with a lot of grits and the sausage was thinly cut. the service was extremely slow. our server quinterra had no sense of urgency and was not personable. it took twenty minutes to get our drinks and we ordered the biscuit board as an appetizer but the biscuits were cooking and could not come out first. there is also an additional twenty percent auto gratuity added to the bill. horrible choice. overall a bad experience and i would not recommend anyone come here.
Food was excellent. My eggs were perfectly scrambled, something that I rarely find. My country fried steak was also excellent as was my husbandās omelette and grits. The breakfast potatoes could have been improved with the addition of actual garlic and onion in the mix. Bacon was crispy. Pork sausage was not greasy. All in all a very positive experience.

As a frequent traveler always on the hunt for unique local restaurants, I can safely say we found an absolute gem at Sugar Grits!
We were staying at the Peabody Hotel and wanted something within walking distance; since this is located right in the Peabody Complex, it was only a few steps away. I had seen the Biscuit Board online a seasonal sampler of their top items and since I love a good variety, we had to go.
What impressed me most, however, was the service. Jalieesa was incredible and made us feel like old friends and longtime customers from the moment we walked in. She took such great care of my daughter and gave us excellent recommendations on what to try. She even noticed my daughter wanted a plain biscuit and brought an extra one out for her free of charge.
If you are in Memphis, this is a must-try spot for breakfast or brunch!

Well letās just say I probably wonāt be eating here again . I called in a pick up order & it was thrown together looking like slop. I ordered the Charleston Cheddar Grit which is SUPPOSE to include cheese grits , blackened shrimp , onions , peppers, andouille sausage and cream sauce. I had to ask them to remake my order because the order looked like soup with a bunch of onions . Once the order was remade I made sure to ask for the cream sauce on the side. My meal was $20+ for a scoop of grits ,3 shrimp, 3 sausages , a splash of cream sauce, and a pinch of vegetables which is absolutely RIDICULOUS!!! The food was extremely bland bring back the old recipe, the old cook and better portion sizes. These grits used to be filled with flavor and definitely worth the price . The restaurant has definitely fallen off since itās been under new management. The menu states one prices but they will charge you something else . There was a 20% gratuity charge added but the menu stated there will be a 10% gratuity fee for all to go orders . On top of that I had to wait almost 10 minutes for someone to assist me if the business is that busy there needs to be a host there to assist customers. Overall the young lady Daphen did a great job assisting me through this terrible experience.

WOW! Amazing food and wonderful service! My boyfriend and I had Jalieesa as our server and she was absolutely amazing. She provided great food recommendations and was just overall a joy to be around. Food was 10/10 and customer service was a 20/10. Thank you for a wonderful breakfast experience!

Had been here when last in town, and was looking forward to going backā but was disappointed. It took nearly 2 hours for 2 people to get breakfast in a very empty restaurant. The food was warm when it came out and the bill came with a surprise 20%gratuity included. Shall not be returning when next in town.

Took a while to be acknowledged. VERY slow service. Food was ok. Floor was dirty and looked like it hadnāt been mopped in a while. Poorly managed. The wait staff was nice.
Long wait to be seated and for mediocre food. Very friendly staff, but poor management.
I would really love to try this place. This is my second attempt at trying to get a takeout order. Just a night shift worker, trying to get a breakfast to go... Took a very long time for anyone to even acknowledge me and hand me a menu. Then no one ever returned to take my order. I heard the food is good here, but if they leave customers at the door with no acknowledgement after a prolonged time, that's poor service, no matter where you go.
We really enjoyed brunch here. The biscuit board was delicious. We would definitely come again. Service was attentive and very nice.
