I don't normally do such a review for fine dining but my wife and I attended a special event where Duckhorn Wines and Chef Gentry at the Lobbyist put on a very unique feast. I'm not a wine expert by any means but the Duckhorn wines selected fit the menu perfectly with a 4 course meal that included octopus and fresh cabbage to start, and perfectly prepared beef cheek for the main. The Lobbyist source their food supplies from local farms which it shows both in appearance and taste. The event was sponsored by Buster's Liquor, an icon in Memphis for the selection and price. The seating was an open table making it a fun evening where we met and made new friends. Check them out for a special date with your better half.

We have a great time here at the Lobbyist. We asked our server to chose the wine from a French chose to American. Along with the food for the table. He choses were fantastic. He was engaging, along with all the other team working there. The chef come over to chat to us. And was delighted when one of our party told him, it’s the best over all meal I have had in the US, and experience.
We had the Ribeye
A must go place in this marvellous city.

The food is flavorful. The people are nice, but the service is incredibly and painfully slow. It detracts from the experience. I am not sure I would go back.

The atmosphere is beautiful, with lovely walnut tables and chairs, beautiful table settings and utensils, and romantic light. Creative flavors in the small plates, perfect temperatures and presentation, and seasonally fresh. If you're the designated driver, you'll find 2 amazing mocktails on the drink menu that actually are subtle and wonderful... surprisingly complex flavors, and presented like works of art. Five stars.

This was a mixed bag for me! I really enjoyed the vibe and the waitress; and the bartender made good drinks! However, I got their bucatini and did not enjoy it. It was very oily and the ricotta and dill that came with it only made the dish more obviously coated in oil and very unappetizing. They put sweet jalapeños on the dish, I think in an effort to balance all that oil but all I could taste was the oil, and they didn’t even season it with enough salt. I took like two bites and decided it wasn’t for me. They only have one other pasta dish running right now and if it’s anything like that one (which it might not be), go to Catherine and Mary’s if you want pasta. But their focaccia bread you get with their board was superb. I didn’t like the carrots. They were very obviously not fresh nor very sweet but everything else was very good and the bread was to die for. Their deserts were worth the price too. All in all, for as nice a place as it is, it’s actually priced reasonably. It’s less expensive than google suggests unless you’re buying a protein based dish. The pasta dish and two drinks only cost me $46 before tip. The staff seemed like they enjoyed their job and were very skilled at handling an obscure menu. That’s my only other complaint really. The menu was a little hard to understand and the servers kept having to explain things not clearly laid out with the menu. Maybe I’m just getting old there and just don’t vibe with minimalist menus but it seemed like I looked at that menu like five times before just giving up and ordering what my friend got. Either way, it was a good time and the service was definitely the highlight of the visit. Worth a try for sure!

The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the menu is small. I like having a little more variety but I do appreciate the creativity of the dishes they do have. Just need more options. Now, the patio alone gets 5 stars. It's so relaxing and cozy. Beautifully decorated with simple decor and perfectly located , this review is more like a 4.5. Lol The Lobbyist is a beautiful open kitchen concept that I thoroughly enjoy. I always receive good service, good cocktails, and the food I've had so far has been super flavor. They have a really good happy with Saturday specials included and are just an all around good downtown dining options! They are ideal for friend dates, romantic dates, business meals, solo outings or whatever else you need at any given moment.

Had a Lobbyist Daiquiri and a Privateer Single Cask Select Lobbyist Highball. I think the daiquiri could use another garnish, something smelly maybe a lime peel and zest on a tp or rim, but I don't know what. Chaz killing it.

The service. Amazing! The food. Amazing! The drinks. Amazing!
I got the rib eye for myself maybe it’s because I skipped lunch that day but I probably could have polished the plate myself.
The mash potatoes were cool but I really enjoyed the Bok Choy. I’ve been experimenting with them a lot lately in my dishes n I love how they make it here.
Co worker had the smaller steak. Which doesn’t have the sand flavor the ribeye does but still a nice dish.
I would def return. Thanks. ☺️

I took my wife to dinner at The Lobbyist for her birthday. What a delightful treat this restaurant was! We were so impressed with the service, attentiveness of the staff and the quality of the food. The food was delicious!! We split the Focaccia Board, Corn Mash, Belly, and the Teres Major. The flavors of the Focaccia, corn mash and belly were incredible! The Teres Major was cooked beautifully to an actual medium rare and was salted to perfection.
The only critique is that the patrons at the bar were very loud.
Well done, The Lobbyist. Well done! We’ll be back!

My fiance is vegetarian which can make dining out less than easy, especially in a BBQ town. The Lobbyist was such a great find. Fantastic vegetarian options, great pork belly and superb drinks. The waitstaff was excellent as well. Just a wonderful experience and we can't wait to return. Great date night spot.
