On our first night in Memphis we stayed at the Canopy by Hilton Hotel and we decided to go to Charlie Vergos' Rendezvous Restaurant for dinner. Lucky for us it was about a two minute walk to the restaurant from our home. \nWe were not disappointed. Almost everyone had ribs and I had the chicken. Everyone raved about the ribs and the chicken was really good as well. \nWe had reservations so were seated very quickly. The place was packed. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere...
Is it touristy, apparently yes
Is it worth it? Absolutely! Best baked beans I’ve ever had in my life, and I don’t like baked beans! Sauce on the pork was nice and the slaw was not what I expected, which was refreshing.
Staff was kind and attentive as well.

After all the hype I heard about this place I had it on my list for Memphis. The food was at best average, well cooked but somewhat cold. The most disappointing thing is paying nearly 50 dollars per head and be given plastic cutlery, it cheapened the experience. The waiter was lovely and the basement has plenty character but don't be in a stampede to go there.
