My family loved this place. We stopped through to stay at the Smoke House Hotel coming home from a trip and went to the Patio for dinner. It’s a small eclectic space, with live music every Fri and Sat, and the food was good with generous portions. We highly recommend the fried okra and fried pies with ice cream, both were amazing! We loved the atmosphere and friendly people and hope to visit again. You could bring your family, come on a date, or to hang out with friends. Don’t let the location or look of the place scare you away-this place is a real gem.

This is a different experience since the fire. Still quaint with a homely vibe. Food was good-fried pies were fantastic.

I grew up in the area and may be over-critical, but we had way higher expectations for the "World Famous Smokehouse"... We stayed in one of the cabins for a week. I cannot speak for the lodge itself, but these cabins are poorly managed. My wife and I have been far more comfortable and rested staying in remote cabins without electricity. First, the low advertised rates and BOGO offers are false. Initially advertised at a reduced rate of $60-70/night, our average nightly rate ended up at $141 for the cabin. Prices go way up on the weekend and cancel out any advertised savings from during the week. The mattress was far past it's expiration date and was a squishy bag of lumps with a depression in the center. My wife and I had to sleep along the outer edges of the bed to avoid falling into the trap. We told the front desk and they said "Huh?". The wall-mount heat/AC roars to life like a turbine and cycles on/off constantly, only being off for a few seconds before winding back up. Without it the cabin became frigid. However, also without it, the sounds of nature (the semi-trucks constantly Jake-braking down the interstate combined with the nightly police & ambulance sirens) really added to the ambiance. The cabins are 1/4 mile from the office, making it inconvenient to ask for normal "hotel" things like toilet paper or to get a failed key-card re-keyed in the rain. The toilet would run every time unless you jiggle the handle. The fireplace is functional but mostly for show only and doesn't draft well or provide any real heat. The firewood has been stacked outside each cabin, but every woodpile is exposed to the rain. The pathetic fires in the fireplace only poured smoke into the cabin until I could scavenge enough dry pieces from the bottoms of the neighboring wood piles. Each cabin has a covered porch that has plenty of room to store the wood or at least a dry box for a few logs and kindling. The internet to the TV was too slow to watch a movie without constant buffering. What else? Intermittent housekeeping and we had to leave notes if we needed anything. Only 1 very thin blanket and a sheet for the bed. No extra blankets so if there were a 3rd person, additional bedding would be required. No paper towels provided for the kitchenette area. The tub was nice. Location to the interstate was convenient. Some staff were friendly, some obviously didn't care. The cabins are too close to each other, but they have privacy shades. Won't be staying here again.

I decided to stay here because of all the good ratings on trip advisor. I think their reviews need some serious updating. The place is pretty run down. The rooms are very small. When I checked in the bed looked like the sheets had not been changed. The bed was made. There is no microwave, no refrigerator in the rooms. The rooms are also pretty beat up. The curtains are threadbare. The restaurant burned down two years ago. They offer a outside grill on the weekends they have local entertainment that looks interesting but if you're passing through like I am that does me no good. There is no store. The walls are very thin. They allow pets and I could hear the dog barking in the next room. The house keeping is not very attentive. The toilet was dirty as was the tub. I'm not sure what is going on with this property but what I've seen is not good.

Really nice place to stay but watch it when you reserve a room online. You are routed to a third party reservation company. Almost $100 in xtra fees. Your best way to reserve a room is to call. Very disappointing!!!

The Smokehouse Lodge is a neat little place. The staff has been amazing.. helpful and friendly! Included on premises is the Smokehouse Patio Grill that features live music on the weekends!

Completely different than it was years ago. The restaurant burned down and hasn't been replaced. There is a small building behind the hotel that is open on the weekends and where you can catch the live music that was also lost in the fire. So...just know it isn't what you might remember, no big buffet restaurant and no gift shop. But the Lodge is still there, and it is dated but okay overall. Big swimming pole out back and lots of seating areas around your rooms too. Live Music in the evenings when open on the weekend is good stuff and is free and worth a visit in itself if you love live music.

Thought it might be something good but it sucked. Son’s hamburger patty was as thin as one form McDonald’s and obviously a pre-formed frozen patty. Crinkle cut fries from piggly wiggly probably…. Wife’s sausage sandwich seemed to be a ballpark hot dog My sausage platter with onions and peppers was greasy as hell…. Only plus was the fried Brussels sprouts. Pretty good… Water was in bottles and you had to pay a buck each Paper plates and plastic silverware! Seemed like a bad picnic It was raining and the roof was leaking. Never again….

Based on our first night, Service is 5 Stars, through the roof wonderful.Ambiance: coming from someone that has stayed at the very worst and the very best accommodations, the property is tranquil in the back and noisy in the front parts. The rooms are tired, but clean for the most parts and grounds are very nice. The pool is inviting. We'd like to experience the cabins upon our return to this area.Food: not yet experienced - they are open Friday-Sunday with Live Music.Stay Tuned for more....

My companion and I stopped at the Smoke House Lodge & Cabins late at night during a TERRIBLE storm. I was greeted by a friendly front desk attendant (Chris). He was kind and accommodating. Our room was clean, tidy, and all we needed to rest while the storm passed over night.

Interesting "off the beaten path". Locals love it but I have to say I was surprised to order string beans in a barbecue place that was totally absent of any flavor. No ham hock, no onions, no seasoning. Might as well been steamed...if you like that. The pork chop was slightly seasoned but way over cooked. Could have been better. The barbecue sauce is basically sugar with some more sugar. It guess it's a regional taste. Slaw was very good and up to worth while and I would have been very disappointed had I missed the cherry turnover! It was excellent! Old building has had better days. Avoid if the weather is bad.

We walked in just now (4:05 PM), were promptly seated, given menus, and told that someone would be by to take our order shortly. We waited 20 minutes, and watching the band warm up, then left when nione ever came to take our order.

The staff is very helpful and friendly! The cabin is nice, suitable furnishings, coffee pot provided, quiet location. Although we didn’t need it, it is good that there was a stack of wood for the fireplace. The bed was too soft and very rickety.
