I was really looking forward to dining here because of Chef Maneet's reputation and the great publicity surrounding the restaurant, but unfortunately it ended up being the most disappointing meal of our Nashville trip.
The restaurant is beautiful and the staff were polite, but the food simply didn't justify the price. The biggest issue was the chicken—it tasted dry and not fresh, which made us question the quality. The dishes sounded creative on the menu, but the execution was underwhelming.
We ordered the lamb keema tostadas, tandoori chicken poutine, moilee chicken curry, and naan. The naan was the highlight of the meal. The moilee curry lacked the depth and freshness I expected, the poutine was underwhelming, and the chicken was disappointing. Considering the premium prices, I expected much better quality and flavor.
After eating at several restaurants during our Nashville trip, this was unfortunately the only one that left us feeling that the food wasn't worth the cost.
I really wanted to love this place, but based on our experience, I wouldn't return or recommend it. There are better places in Nashville that offer better value and better food.

The food and drinks were great, but the service was lacking. It took forever for us to put in our orders since our waiter just wasn’t coming by our table. Then, the food actually took a long time to arrive even though they didn’t seem to be that busy. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and say maybe they were understaffed, but I expect more due to the price of everything. Our server also did not have the best customer service skills and was not helpful when it came to recommendations. I got a lot of “well everything is really good” when I asked what they suggested we order. Overall, it was a good experience and I might consider returning if I was invited by a friend, but I don’t think I would recommend it.

If you’re looking for authentic Indian food in Nashville, this is the place to go! Me and my husband, we went there for a dinner date. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious.

The Chicken Tikka Masala was hands down the best I’ve had—the spices were perfectly balanced, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The Lamb Vindaloo was just as impressive, with amazing flavor and the perfect level of spice.

If you’re a mac and cheese lover, you have to try the Saag Mac & Cheese. It sounds unique, but it’s incredible! The creamy cheese combined with the flavorful saag made for one of the most delicious and memorable dishes I’ve ever had.

And don’t skip dessert! The Gulab Jamun Cheesecake and Tiramisu Tea Cake were unlike anything we’ve had before. Both were unique, beautifully made, and absolutely delicious—the perfect way to end the meal.

The food, flavors, and quality were outstanding from start to finish. This is easily one of the best Indian restaurants in Nashville, and we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience here! We started with the cheese poutine, and it was so delicious and filling that we had originally planned to order the kofta curry and naan as well. Thankfully, our server, Kirstyn, thoughtfully checked back with us after the appetizer before placing the rest of our order. We realized we were already quite full and really appreciated her patience and attentiveness.

We visited to celebrate my wife's birthday, and to our surprise, the restaurant treated us to a complimentary cheesecake, which wasn't even added to our bill. It was such a thoughtful gesture that made the celebration even more special.

From the food to the outstanding service, everything exceeded our expectations. A special thank you to Kirstyn for making our visit so enjoyable. We've already bookmarked this restaurant and will definitely be coming back regularly. Highly recommended!

Food was decent though I wish she had more of her uniquely Maneet twists instead of downplaying to the average, boring American tourist palate. I think she's come far enough to be BOLD with her menu w/o sacrificing business. Decor was great, felt welcoming & homey, plus they have her TOC belts out on display. Service was on the slow, non-interactive side but adequate and we were there for weekday lunch so not exactly the 'A' team...I get that. That beig said, the hostess was great and lovingly amused at our geeking fandom. If you're looking to make a visit, and I wholeheartedly suggest you do, mid week lunch is the time to go! Also they validate parking (partial) at the Wholefoods garage!! 😀

Biryani special was outstanding. Also had chicken tiki masala and the veg ( mushroom & peas in spicy sauce). Loved it all. Ate too much! Saw the Food Network Tournament of Champions belts. Maneet rocks!

We visited Chauhan Ale & Masala House with high expectations, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing.

The food was just okay and lacked the depth of flavor and authenticity we were expecting from a well-known Indian restaurant. Nothing we ordered really stood out or made us want to come back.

The service was an even bigger letdown. It was slow, inattentive, and we didn’t feel welcomed. As customers, we personally felt overlooked and did not receive the same level of attention and hospitality that we expected. Whether intentional or not, it left us feeling uncomfortable throughout the meal.

To make matters worse, our final bill included an incorrect charge. Fortunately, we reviewed the bill carefully before paying and had it corrected. At a restaurant of this reputation and price point, we expect much greater attention to detail and better customer service.

Overall, this experience fell well below our expectations. Between the average food, poor service, and billing mistake, we didn’t feel the visit was worth it. There are several other Indian restaurants in Nashville that offer better food, better hospitality, and a much better overall dining experience.

Our first visit to Chauhan Ale & Masala House was nothing short of exceptional. Since we'd never been before (from Oklahoma), we had lots of questions, and our server was phenomenal-patient, knowledgeable, and full of thoughtful recommendations that made the entire experience even better.
We started with the Gol Guppa Shots and Asparagus Fennel Chaat, and from the very first bite we knew we were in for something special. Every dish was beautifully plated, bursting with bold Indian flavors and creative combinations that kept surprising us.
The Tamarind Lamb Chops paired with the vindaloo curry were outstanding. The vindaloo was perfectly balanced-just enough heat to remind you it's there without overwhelming your palate, allowing the depth of flavor to shine. The Chicken Kabob with the Short Rib French Onion Naan was equally unforgettable.
The cocktails were expertly crafted, and we finished by sharing the Gulab Jamun Cheesecake before sipping Chai-Spiced Espresso Martinis that were simply amazing.
Every plate was colorful, every bite delivered exciting layers of flavor, and every recommendation exceeded our expectations. This wasn't just dinner-it was an experience.
If you're looking for bold flavors, inventive cuisine, exceptional cocktails, and genuine hospitality in Nashville, Chauhan Ale & Masala House is an absolute must. We'll definitely be back.

Had lunch today with my family. The chicken pieces in the Tikka masala curry was tasting horrible.. didn’t taste fresh. Considering this is owned by a celebrity chef the food did not meet our expectations at all. Not worth the money!

Been wanting to try for some time when visiting Nashville every few years. Finally had the chance since in town for a tradeshow. Charming interior with some fun walls showing old movie flicks.
Having enjoyed a lot of Asian Indian fare in Seattle and Surrey, BC area, I've tried a lot of various fare.
I would DEFINATELY say the chef has found a unique way to provide creative flare mashing up her roots with a southern American flare. It is a great way for folks who have never experienced Asian Indian flavors to dip their toe in the water.
Her Gol Gopa (Pani Puri depending on your reference point) is pretty legit. Nice flavors. She's done the work of preparing and lets you add the finishing touches with tiny sev and the cilantro/mint water. I introduced my coworker and he enjoyed. Was it best I had? No. But I was not disappointed and would order every visit.
The whipped paneer was interesting and had some creative flavors.
I was going to order a signature biryani for each of us. Our server encouraged us to think about that and to maybe share and if still feeling hungry add something else after. Great call, even with being hungry. We couldn't finish it. The pomegranate raita was a nice spin. The biryani had a lot of flavor and was moist. It had a gentle seasoning that from my experienced reference point was muted in spices and heat, but my coworker wasn't and he really enjoyed - and I did as well, so it wasn't an issue to me. Traveling, in fact, was even a safer call. Her chai take on tirimasu was good and it wasn't heavy.

Tandoori Poutine Chicken (was Amazing!!!), I DO NOT Recommend the Spare Ribs (lots of fat, very little meat), Moilee Curry (Very Good), Everything was very Visually appealing, the flavors were really good but was disappointed by the Spare Ribs.

Food was certainly not worth the hype or price tag. Drinks were also very basic. There were very few options in the menu. Not visiting this restaurant anymore.
