This is my new favorite Italian restaurant. We have been visiting Nashville for many years but somehow this wonderful place escaped us til now (just in back of the Kimpton Aertson Midtown). Perfect in every sense. Thinly sliced carpaccio; light-as-a-feather gnocchi with non-goopy gorgonzola; lean, non-greasy bolognese. I don't have enough nice things to say so just “thank you!” for an outstanding experience (and on a Monday, no less!).
The food was very delicious. The service was mediocre. The servers were business only. We ordered dessert with coffee and it was taking a long time and our server told us they had a lot of dessert requests at once. ??? We did not even receive coffee while we were waiting. We ended up canceling the dessert and coffee which was disappointing as we were sure the desserts were going to be delicious.
We always have the best time at Gio's. We go there for nearly all special occasions, guests from out-of-town, etc. Any excuse to go will do. Kevin was one of our waiters last night; he was most entertaining. The entire staff is very professional and experienced. The food choices are numerous and every dish is tasty.
