This was a great concept, marred by a rough start and difficulty gaining traction. It is sad that a well-meaning investment in the community which had vast support across demographics and age groups was assaulted in the public discourse by those too young and too clueless about history to allow the original name concept - The Sit-In - to be used by the owners. Nonetheless, the concept honored the community with incredible arts and history presence, while serving a good menu of both food and coffee. They promised to re-open but that seems unlikely, sadly.

We had a networking function. The space is open, awesome, and the young man and young lady were very professional! I will be back.

This place is wayyyyy over priced. First time I went here I wasn't told I was charged a $1 for a splash of coconut milk. I would understand if I ordered a fru fru drink that required more than a splash, but come on??? Then my lox bagel was so disgusting I started dry heaving on way to work because lox was bad. I'm all about second chances so, Second time around just went through drive thru and waited in car for 10min, called restaurant and finally got someone to answer....took 25 mins to get a plain bagel they didn't even toast and dry oatmeal. This place is a scam! So sad that Bongo would try to rob college students. I have supported Bongo since I lived in the village every morn and a many of evenings. Top it all off there is nothing environmentally friendly about this place. Huge bags paper bags and plastic to-go containers. The place always looks empty. Not sure how they are in business.

Terrible service. Ordered food and half of our party got their food and the half did not. I asked twice for it and it still did not arrive. They said the waffle takes the longest to make?!?? Staff was not helpful either.

My husband and I found this restaurant on Yelp, so we decided to check it out since we were in the area. When we walked in, we grabbed a menu to decide what to get. Then we ordered at the counter and they brought us our food. It was very quiet, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves, although there were a few others in the cafe. The food was excellent. The vinaigrette on the salad was amazing, and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his rise and shine waffle. Very good!

Such a fun place! We passed through Nashville on our way home from spring break. We decided to check out this cafe because it was so close to our hotel. We were very pleased! We got waffles (plain, peaches and pecan, and strawberries and cream) and they were delicious. They were huge so we could have easily shared them but I was glad to try the different varieties. I got an iced latte and it was great too. We were very glad we stopped here. Fun environment and yummy food!

J-street cafe is an amazing breakfast and brunch cafe. Food is light and fresh. Staff is friendly and helpful. It's exactly what Jefferson street needs with the growth of our city, a bomb cafe on our side of town. The artwork inside sets the atmosphere and you feel like your dining in a historic spot. This location is great to study at or meet someone for a cup of joe or to enjoy breakfast all by yourself #treatyourself Highly recommend and I look forward to coming back again and again!
