I always thought I didn’t belong. Everywhere I went, I felt like I should be somewhere else. That is, until I found Germantown Jonathan’s and the bartender, gauge. I moved to Nashville for work 6 and a half years ago, and I’ve struggled finding my place in this city. I tried to honky tonks, but I’m well into my 50s now, so I just always felt out of place in “aldeans”. I tried dating apps, and even some local Facebook groups but they were normally awkward and just didn’t work out. I started going to Jonathan’s because I like their ranch dressing. I always sat at a high top table near the bar. One day, as I was wrapping up my chicken tenders, the bartender, Gauge, called me over to the bar. We sat and chatted for hours. I felt like I was talking to my brother again, who sadly passed away when I was a teenager from a rare gastrointestinal disease. What I’m sure seemed like a nothing interaction for him, completely turned my life around. I started going back more. Gauge convinced me to try new foods I had never eaten before. New beers from breweries I’d never heard of. One day, gauge calls me over to the other side of the bar and introduces me to a woman. She had just moved here recently, so I told her I know what it’s like moving to a new city. We sat and talked for the rest of the day until they closed. Gauge kept sending encouraging glances when she wasn’t looking. I walked her back to her apartment and made sure to get her number. This was a little over a year ago. I’m writing this today because tomorrow I’m going to ask her to be my wife, and I hope Gauge will be one of my groomsmen. Germantown Jonathan’s and Gauge turned my life into nothing but pure bliss. Thank you Gauge. You’re a great person and everyone thinks so.

As a food critic from Paris (apologies if my English is not great), I had low expectations from a what I thought was sports bar. Most have decent food and fratty atmosphere. I have to say Jonathan’s proved me wrong. Our bartender, Gauge, was hands down to coolest guy I’ve ever met in my life. I am tempted to hire him as my own private bartender for my villa in Puerto Rico. His banter with his coworkers was so fun to watch, and everyone seemed to really like him. Our drinks were made fresh, with the speed of a thousand stallions. My husband got his usual old fashioned and I of course got the espresso martini. Both were phenomenal. I had never had an espresso martini with gin and i will now be doing it that way forever. My husband said it was the best old fashioned he’d ever had. Per Gauge’s wonderful recommendations, we had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sliders to start, and then we both split the Fire Roasted Chicken entree with feta cheese and a delightful roasted red pepper sauce over rice. The chicken they use is delicious and both were perfectly cooked. So much so that we got the Chicken Tenders entree to go. They had a decadent crisp, and were so well fried I shed a tear. By the time dessert came I was completely overwhelmed, but the warm cookie skillet topped with vanilla ice cream send me into an absolute breakdown. This place, and Gauge made me so happy that I fully sobbed at the bar top. Tears mixed with eyeliner dripping into my espresso martini. I knock it back, tip 100 dollars, and walk out of the bar a changed woman. I fear I may never be that happy again

Wings were good but would have been better served hot when they were ready. Staff is really good at having personal conversations and/or interacting with their phones while you wait to be greeted or get a drink. Oh, and most definitely enjoy the music that includes a healthy dose of ni$$er in the lyrics.

Nice open dining/bar area! Busy on game days but if you get a seat it’s a great vibe with quick service and good food. HUGE menu with a bunch of options, something for everyone. It can get a little loud, and the only parking options are paid options /: but overall a solid option!Vegetarian options: Plenty clearly marked options

Willow did an amazing job with my large group on a chaotic Saturday! She got every drink and food item to us promptly and had a great attitude the entire time! & Somehow, even split up all the checks correctly between a group of 15-20 people. She deserves a raise for the amazing service she provides!
