Visited Mikado last night for dinner. We were seated at the hibachi table with 3 other ppl. One of which was celebrating their 14th birthday. We sang to her and the entertainment was good. The salad dressing did not taste like it had ginger in it at all. The miso soup was good and had one bowtie pasta in it for visual effect which was cute. The chef cooked the rice and veggies and then started cooking the chicken. He used the spatula to spread out the raw chicken and press it down. He then proceeded to stir the veggies with the same spatual and plate the rice in the individual bowls. I asked him why he used the same spatula he just touch the raw meat with to plate the cooked rice. He said he didn’t. He had ONE spatual and a fork so there’s no way he used a different spatula. He was going back and forth with me about what I saw. I wish I had been videoing so I could post it with this review!! We spoke with the manager and explained the situation and left. There was definitely cross contamination. I hope the 3 other people didn’t get sick especially the birthday girl.
For the money that I spent it was one of the worst hibachi experiences I’ve had. The food was severely overpriced and majorly under-seasoned….. The atmosphere was alright but felt old and musty. Customer Service was good even through the lack of food quality.
As far as the food goes, for 2 people for a casual date it was nearly 100+ after tax and tip. The food tasted, looked, and felt frozen and had ZERO seasoning. The only redeeming part of the meal was the soup at the beginning and even that had a singular piece of pasta in it? In what universe does an ASIAN restaurant have that? lol
Overall one of the worse hibachi experiences I’ve had. It’s highway robbery for the prices and felt sick after eating here due to the lack of quality in the food. I have had better hibachi for half the price at some local spots before. The best way to describe this place and food that is served is OVERPRICED AND UNDER SEASONED. Won’t be back. Stay clear of this place. Cut your loses.
Very disappointed. The flavors were not what we are used to. Steak and shrimp were tough and not tender. Not sure why so many like this place.
Been coming here for 35 years. Still as amazing as the first time I went. Amazing food amazing staff. Just is just the sweetest thing. A must go to restaurant in Nashville.
Oka was our cook and Nicole our waitress and the experience was1000% beyond what we expected. One individual in our party never had filet Mignon and they exceeded our expectations. We have personally have been going there for over 28 yrs and they never cease to amaze us
Amazing food! The staff was super friendly and kept our glasses full. A must try for sure!!
The best service I have had in 20 years! Wonderful service and the best hospitality.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The good: The seating host and waitress were excellent. The chef was entertaining.
The bad: food.
The soup opener was basically flavored water, the salad dressing tasted ok, there was just a LOT of it over the white iceberg lettuce. Half of the steak was tough and gristleish. The worst was the chicken as half of it had “fatty pockets” which made the texture gross. The shrimp was slightly undercooked. One of the darker dipping sauces tasted rank and I avoided it the rest of the meal.
To leave there paying over $120 for three people, you would expect better. I won’t be coming back.
Again, the staff were friendly, prompt and attentive. That alone, won’t save this place.

I took my kids to eat here last night for my birthday and everything was fine until we got home. We all ended up with food poisoning! We each had the steak and shrimp. So very disappointing, spent nearly $200 to be sick all night. Never again!!

This hidden gem is a nashville staple for locals. I have been coming here for over 15 years. The food and service is always outstanding. Pro tip skip the yum yum sauce and ask for the salad dressing for dipping. Not the coolest or most trendy spot in nashville, but definitely one of the best.

Honestly. One of the best hibachi restaurants. My drink or sauce was never empty. The filet melted in my mouth. It's just a family feel and very personal vibe. I'm visiting from Florida and I absolutely will come back.

We LOVE Japanese food. This place did not live up to our expectations. This place is very dated. But surprisingly, it had tons of hibachi tables. We were sat fairly quickly at a table with guests already waiting. We had looked at the menu and decided on what we wanted to eat before the waitress showed up to take our drink order. The chef was very entertaining. His cooking was subpar. Not very much flavor or seasoning to any of his food. Their ginger dressing almost taste like mayo. Extremely thick and more salty than sweet. Their version of yummy was different. It tasted ok... kinda store bought... but ok. All 6 of us at the table were done eating for approximately 10-15 minutes before our waitress showed back up to check on us. We needed boxes and to pay. And as soon as she dropped checks we handed her payment before she disappeared again. We have had better Japanese and really had moderate hopes for this place. It fell very short.
