Loved it. We split Beef Bourganion and Steak & pommes frites, followed by the chocolate mousse and creme brulee. Everything was great. Service was super friendly and responsive. Vibe was chill. Highly recommend and look forward to going back.

Service is awesome. The ladies are so nice!
Atmosphere is super cute and cozy.
BUT FOOD!
The Lobster Bisque is way too salty. Steak and Fries is also very salty. Who poured the entire jar of kosher in them?
I lived in France for 2 years and never have I ever had French cuisine this salty.
Had to call check early because I just couldn’t stay and it really upsets my stomach.

After many friends recommended Once Upon a Time in France as a huge hit, we decided to try it and were grateful they now take reservations and got in easily. Maybe it's just me not liking French food, but it did not impress as I had hoped. The appetizers were ok - escargot butter/oil was delicious, steak tartare was good but overcrowded with extras, and the scallops gratine came out cold and solidified. I got a feeling the food had been plated and sitting out before we ordered it. I felt this was confirmed when our entrees came within about 3 minutes of ordering them. The duck confit was juicy and tasty. The trout was fine, the rice/pepper side was cold though and the asparagus were overcooked and tasted a bit canned. We got the trio for dessert and I wish I hadn't. Only the chocolate mousse was good, the cookie was tasteless and the macarons were from a box. There were also no green veggies really or salads to choose from to cut back the richness of the meal - even the trout was rich in a creamy white sauce.
Overall, the meal wasn't terribly expensive so the value was ok for what we got.
Service was ok, the staff was nice and knowledgeable but it took over 15 minutes to have our drink order taken. They made up for the time lost between courses by delivering drinks and food quickly. Our meal for 2 took a full 2 hours.
The restaurant is very cute and cozy, but the speaker was blaring behind us and we were very close to the table next to us, so had to balance being loud enough to hear ourselves but not disturb the table over.
Unfortunately with so many other restaurants in Nashville, I probably won't go back again or recommend this to friends.

I was really hoping this place would be good considering the reviews. However I was surprised by the slow and inattentive service. Unfortunately I had to ask about our appetizers. We waited 30 mins for them. We sat for an hour till we got our entrees and they were subpar. I wouldn’t waste my time and money going here. I lived in France for 10 years. This place isn’t it.

If you enjoy classic French cuisine then Once Upon a Time in France is all you need. Everything we ate was flavorful and well prepared. While the food tasted great, I was waiting for something to make my taste buds light up in a way I didn’t know was possible. I have numerous friends that have eaten here and always enjoy their dinners. I think I just wish there was a little something more, and I’m not sure what that is. Regardless, I will be returning, excited to try more of the menu.

Some dishes are really good, like the duck and the beef bourguignon (to die for), and others are good, like the pate, the steak frites and the tartar

So I absolutely LOVE that there is something even remotely close to France here in Tennessee because culture is a challenge here in “hot chicken central”.
I want to start with the pros:
Excellent atmosphere
Excellent music
Excellent decor
Excellent staff (even spoke a little French. Nice touch)
Excellent wine
Excellent menu
The boeuf bourguignon was not very good. Maybe it was a bad batch but the oil content was too overpowering and there was no taste of burgundy wine in it.
The crème brûlée is my favorite dessert, just not this one. It may have not mixed thoroughly and had chunks of cream in it and I am not sure what that was.
It was ok but could have been better.
Parking: Very limited parking.

Once Upon a Time in France is a delightful, small, and charming restaurant with an authentic French vibe. The service was excellent, and the food was absolutely scrumptious. We started with the Escargot de Bourgogne and Foie Gras de Canard for appetizers, both of which were exceptional. For our entrees, we enjoyed the Confit de Canard and Truite aux Amandes—both were cooked to perfection and paired wonderfully with our wine selections. For dessert, the Crème Brûlée and Café Gourmand were the perfect sweet finish to a memorable meal.
The only downside was being seated at a very small table by the restroom and plate pickup area, which made it difficult to fully enjoy our dining experience. We did request to be moved, but unfortunately, reservations prevented that. In my opinion, the table wasn’t ideal for a dinner seating, and parking was a bit limited with a small lot and street parking options.
However, the service and quality of the food were so outstanding that I would happily return—just at a more suitable table next time to fully enjoy the experience!
