Sam's Place - Blue Turtle Bay

This was a great place for an evening dinner with family! The meals were delicious!

Good atmosphere, at a marina. If you are prone to motion sickness it does move as it's floating. Food was typical bar food. Service was very slow and chaotic however we had a large group. Drinks were good. Would go back but not as a large group. Gift shop across from restaurant.

Listen had I known this was on a lake, I wasn't going. The boardwalk was wobbly and some cracked boards made me feel scared to walk as a person with vertigo. The restaurant was like a hole in the wall type place which is okay but you could tell cleaning standards wasn't up to par. I watched flies dance around in the powdered cheese container and that's when I began to pray over whatever I would eat here.
The wait time was atrocious but those in my party wanted to wait. After about 30mins wait we was seated. I ordered the Angus burger and the spinach dip and chips. The burger was suppose to be medium well but was well done. It was still okay, not dry and had flavor. The dip was a watery mess and just wasn't the best of the best. It was just okay for me, but won't be back here.

We were showing houses in Old Hickory, TN, and stopped in at Sam's Sports Grille on Old Hickory Lake next to the boat docks for lunch. Such a lovely view, we sat outside on a covered deck. Enjoyed blackened Mahi Mahi.

I love this place. The atmosphere is truly amazing. It is the kind of place I want to spend time in. I have dined in twice and taken to-go once before. But tonight, I ordered take out (pizza, fries, and smashed red potatoes) for my family, and all of the food tasted terrible. It smelled and tasted like the baking dishes and pans had not been cleaned and rinsed properly (cleaning solution flavor?? Burnt oil??) I was extremely disappointed. It was expensive and wasted. The bartender sort of talked down to me too which didn’t give me warm or fuzzy feelings.

Good food and service. I wanted to have a nice relaxing lunch on a rainy day at the lake. But all they play is metal. It’s like a head bangers ball. So dumb. Not very relaxing. Maybe they could play something like, I don’t know, maybe yacht rock?

we ordered prickly pear margaritas and got a pink mixture in a martini glass.. when we complained that they weren’t drinkable (tasted like pure tequila) our server said that they’re not meant to come like that but wouldn’t remake them or take them off our check.
