We’re big fans of Texas brisket, and I’d heard Shotgun Willy’s was the real deal — and they did not disappoint! My son and I stopped by for lunch today. By the time we arrived, they were already sold out of the cowboy caviar, chicken, and ribs (a good sign, honestly). He ordered the brisket plate with queso mac and a jalapeño cornbread muffin, and I went with the brisket sandwich and dill pickle potato salad. We ate there to soak up the full experience, and everything was delicious. The brisket had a bold, flavorful crust and was melt-in-your-mouth tender — not too fatty, just right. Honestly, it’s the best brisket we’ve had outside of Texas, and even compared to our favorite Texas spot, it would be a serious contender.
We get there, I stand in line with mine and my mother’s order. She sat down because she cannot stand for long periods of time. Plenty of tables were available. The dining room attendant saw us and spoke to us as we came in. Mom decided to move to a booth where 2 people had just eaten, as they left. At that time (probably 10 minutes into our visit), the attendant comes to tell her that she can’t sit there. She pointed me out in line (now 7th in line). She explained that she cannot physically stand long from a torn meniscus. She just said, “ok, I probably won’t be back then.” Meaning because she can’t stand for long. He got in her face and said “you don’t have to stay now.” I got out of line and we left. There is no right in disrespecting someone or making someone stand with an injury.
This will be my new go to when in Nashville! The cheddar jalapeño sausage is the best I have ever had. Everything was great brisket, ribs, pulled pork and all the sides. Friendly staff in an awesome laid back atmosphere.
Food was damn good, the atmosphere was great.

Met the owner, who served up our sandwiches himself. Friendly and humble guy, who definitely knows how to cook. Food was delicious and well worth the drive from anywhere.

5-Star Review for Shotgun Willie's Texas BBQ
If you're a fan of Central Texas-style BBQ, Shotgun Willie's is an absolute must-visit! I had the ribs, and they were perfection. The smoky flavor was spot-on, with just the right amount of bark and tenderness that practically made them fall off the bone. You can tell these were slow-smoked with care and tradition in mind.
The atmosphere felt welcoming, and the staff were friendly and efficient. It’s rare to find a place that nails authentic Texas BBQ outside of the Lone Star State, but Shotgun Willie's has mastered it. I’ll definitely be back to try more from their menu! Highly recommend.

This is our first trip to Shotgun Willies new location!! We here is so much room in the rustic dining room, and seating outside too.
The brisket, ribs, jalapeño cheese stuffed sausage, and the pulled pork remain the same - best I’ve ever eaten. The sides are greatly improved - mac and cheese is excellent, the green beans are so much more savory, the potato salad is scrumptious. The staff checked on us several times and helped deliver our food to the table. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. We will be back many more times.
Parking: Much more parking than the old location, plenty of handicap parking.

We picked up dinner to go from Shotgun Willie’s and enjoyed it on the flight. It's extremely popular, which explained the long wait.
The brisket and ribs were incredibly tasty, reminiscent of what we enjoyed in Texas. Their sides were also a hit, with the green beans being my personal favorite.

Where Smoke Signals Mean Sweet, Sweet Love Listen up, meat enthusiasts and sauce aficionados - this joint is what happens when a pitmaster has a fever dream about perfect brisket and decides to make it reality.
The staff have the kind of authentic Southern charm that makes you want to call everyone "honey" and start saying "y'all" unironically. They'll guide you through the menu like friendly meat sherpas, complete with sampling offers that'll make you want to hug them (resist the urge - you're covered in sauce).
Holy smoked heaven. The brisket has a bark that could make a tree jealous, and it's so tender it practically files its own divorce papers when you look at it. The pulled pork has been smoking longer than most college relationships last. As for the ribs? They're not falling off the bone (that's for amateurs) - they've got that perfect bite that makes BBQ purists weep tears of joy. The mac and cheese is basically a religious experience with extra cheese Picture a BBQ joint that doesn't try too hard - rolls of paper towels on every table (you'll need them), country music at just the right volume, and the sweet smell of smoking meat that'll have you considering whether you can turn this into a cologne.
The picnic tables and metal trays keep it real - this ain't no white tablecloth establishment, and thank the BBQ gods for that.
Pro tip: Get there early - they serve until they're sold out, and trust me, that's not a "maybe later" situation you want to risk.
