Popped in to Swetts for lunch with some friends. I’d never been. It was great. We got there right at opening and there was a line waiting for the doors to open. The wait wasn’t terrible and the food made it worth it.
This is down home cooking if I ever saw it. The fried catfish was the best I have ever had, the pickles were definitely home made and the sweet potatos were heavenly. The staff was friendly and though it was nothing fancy inside it had a diner style feel that just worked perfect. Will be going back before our trip is done.
I’ve lived in Nashville since the ‘80s and will never understand why anyone can say that this is not the absolute best meat and three in town. Maybe people see it described as soul food and are frightened away for some reason. Or maybe they are just afraid to venture into this particular neighborhood. Clean and convenient (big, safe parking lot), 5 min from downtown. Top notch freshly made food that would make your mama blush. Try the greens and dont forget the dessert. Historic...
