The crew there work so hard and fast give great customer service. The food is as good as you get. The best Sweet Tea.
This little diner was a great visit. I had a burger and onion rings, my wife had chicken tenders, fries & slaw. Everything was very good. Our waitress was very nice, as was everyone else.
Decided to stop in while on a road trip and am so pleased I did! Very clean, incredibly attentive staff, and a southern charm that gives you a great break from the road. If you’re passing through, stop in at Mel’s. You won’t regret it!

The staff is always friendly, kind, and personal, providing wonderful service. The food is amazing, delicious, affordable, and features good home cooking. Specific meals praised include the stellar biscuits and gravy, amazing home fries, Corn Nuggets, vegetable soup, chicken tenders, hamburgers, ribeye steaks, and ham and cheese sandwiches. For dessert, the pies and cakes sold by the slice, like the Sun Drop cake, are delicious and should not be underestimated. The coffee is hot and fresh. It is a great place for breakfast or an evening meal, with many choices and very reasonable prices, making it a perfect local gem for travelers and visitors alike.
