Don't bother calling for a carry out order.....they won't answer or will leave the phone off the hook
Very pretty staff. Work around to make sure they can find you reasonable prices on the food they serve. We’ll bring it to your car if unable to go in and get. Enjoy their smash burgers.
Me and my wife are visiting the area from saint louis mo and we ate there last night. With limited time we chose cafe on 28 on a whim and we are happy that we did. The food and service both were awesome. We had the sticky shrimp and cheese sticks for an appetizer and my wife got catfish and I got a bbq bacon cheddar burger. Cafe on 28 is a hidden gem located on Hwy 28 in Downtown Whitwell, TN. They offer a variety of delicious home-cooked meals at great prices. Inside and out of the building are immaculately clean, and the staff are awesome. The atmosphere is great and laid-back. Many customers have praised the amazing food, including the best catfish they have ever had, which is delicious. Dishes like Pork Chops with Mac and Cheese, Hamburgers, Fried Squash, Catfish, and Okra make this cafe a must-visit. They even have a daily meat and three board, with fantastic sides like mashed potatoes, turnip greens, pinto beans, fried green tomatoes and Johnny Cakes. The pizza is delicious, and the salad is crisp and fresh with delicious homemade ranch dressing. No matter what you order, it is absolutely worth the wait. This is a favorite spot where you leave stuffed, and it definitely exceeds expectations.
