“This was my first weekend trying Nigerian food and Kofoshi was my 2nd stop. I ordered to vegetable dish with spinach, rice and plantains I challenged myself to the spices. My dish was full of flavor and the plantains were fried perfectly with a buttery crisp around the edges. It’s stared on my return list.“

I was treated with a visit to this awesome restaurant by my family as I celebrated my 60th birthday this year. Upon arriving to this place, I had read reviews. The reviews were pretty good. As soon as we stepped through the door, we felt like family. It’s as though we showed up to our family‘s house and were sitting and waiting on the freshest, most amazingly prepared meal ever! Although we live over 200 miles away, this is a place that is worth the drive. “Been here several times over the years. The food has been consistently good and the lychee martini is always delicious. A nice variety of sushi rolls. We had the Black Widow which was my favorite. The service was poor. There were only 4 other tables and plenty of waiters/waitresses. Ours didn't put our drink order in until we asked the hostess. He didn't come by to take the order. The hostess took our order and forgot one of the sides after repeating it more than once to her. Waiter really acted like he didn't give a flip to be working. What was supposed to be a nice evening for us wasn't all that great at The Fish because the waiter's attitude and being inattentive. Likely won't return on my own dime.“

I found myself in an area in Houston far from the airport and looked up "Nigerian restaurants near me". Omalicha Kitchen popped up with great reviews so I went, and let me tell you, I ate till I couldn't breathe. We ordered smoky party jollof rice with assorted meat and spinach, nkwobi (extra spicy), and egusi (assorted meat) with pounded yam. Everything was very tasty. The vibes definitely reminded me of home and everyone was pleasant and attentive - they checked in on us to confirm we were good and had no issues. Too bad I'm just visiting from out of state or I would be a frequent patron. Highly recommend!“

I placed the order, and since all the dates for a pick up were 2 weeks away, I left a little note on the feedback box indicating a need to pick up the order the following day by 5:30pm. About an hour later, I got a call from one of their associates confirming the pick-up date and time I chose and, most importantly, asking for my preference regarding what and how I want in the food.“

“I took my father-in-law to the restaurant to try their Fisherman Soup for sentimental reasons and the soup didn't disappoint. My son had their vegetable soup and both were top level. I tasted some of my son's soup and I can tell you it was the best vegetable soup I've had. We tried their Nkowbi and it didn't disappoint. Everything tasted like your grandma's village cooking. If you go, call then ahead of time because they prepare everything from scratch.“

“I was in Houston for a wedding with my husband a couple of weeks ago and was so excited to find a Nigerian restaurant close to our hotel—Nativeport did not disappoint! From our very first order, the experience was nothing short of amazing, and it stayed that way for the four days we kept going back.

The owner was professional, dedicated, and most importantly, can seriously cook! I fell in love with food all over again. Everything we tried was authentic and delicious. I even ordered extra food to take back home to California, and she kindly froze everything to make sure it would travel well on my flight.

P.S. My last meal before flying out? Fried rice, plantain, and peppered goat meat—perfection!“

“From the moment we walked in the front door, even though it was busy, the gentleman who greeted us provided superb customer service. He made sure we were seated exactly where we wanted, brought water to the table promptly, and still managed to attend to other guests efficiently ….that alone was impressive. We actually drove an hour and 30 minutes to get there. While we were on the road, I kept saying, “I’m never driving this far again!” ..but I really wanted to try the food. And let me tell you, it was well worth the drive. When the food arrived, it was beautifully presented and piping hot. Even the powdered yam was wrapped neatly in what I believe was a palm leaf ….a nice touch. I ordered the seafood okra and egusi with assorted meat, and every bite was undeniably delicious. As someone who has eaten a lot of Nigerian food …especially for an American girl…I can confidently say this is by far one of the best experiences I’ve had. I’ll definitely be making that drive again before my summer vacation is over!“
