Looked for a lunch place in Alpine. This place worked out great. Right on the main street. Had tacos and chips and guac. Everything was good. Service was great and personal. Walked around and saw some of the building murals, which Alpine is known for.

Really cool little spot, service was awesome. Food is good, salsa is on point.

The food was so good. Piping hot and delicious. If you’re I. Town and you want a gray meal, stop here. The burgers were awesome! The staff was very friendly and accommodating!

Food was bad. I got the pork tacos which were dry. Not dry from being over cooked, but dry like they were made yesterday and sat in the fridge uncovered for 24hrs. The amount of cilantro that was on the tacos was ridiculous, cilantro is a garnish!! Were they trying to hide the bad meat? Plus it’s not cheap $14.99!! Don’t waste your money, there are better places to eat in Alpine.

Food was decent. Nothing special at all. Probably understaffed but realllllly slow service. Food came out quick but waiter was nowhere to be seen. Multiple other tables literally tracked him down to pay/order.Beans and rice were pretty good

I cannot recommend this place enough. I stayed here in October of '22, and the staff and service were as good as one could hope.If you are taking a trip to Big Bend on a motorcycle, this is the place to stay.

The food is awesome!! I love the atmosphere, and the waitress was super nice. I felt a little rushed. We ordered 2 meals to go, after we had our lunch. We were brought the to go order with our plates and so we had bags and boxes to deal with on the table as we ate out lunch.Just a suggestion for management...To go orders should be brought out with the check to pay. And ask your customers if they are ready for their check. I felt rushed to leave because less than 5 minutes after our meals arrived we were given the check and told we could pay with cash or card. I didn't even have half my food eaten yetThe tables next to the windows are beautiful. I would move them to a location away from the windows due to the beauty of them. Not enjoyed when the sun is cooking you from the outside.

Stopped by after hiking Big Bend and had a great experience. Drinks were affordable. Vibes were immaculate. The huge deer on the wall was pretty dope and impressive. Also the cute bartender with the cross earrings gave us better service than we ever get in Virginia. I don’t know if that’s a Texas thing or if Virginia just sucks in comparison, but either way this bar absolutely slaps.

I went there on a Sunday just to sit at the bar and enjoy some food while reading after the live music. The establishment is clean and has a cozy vibe, I love how there is a bike hotel next door and there are plenty of chairs out front to sit and talk story with people.Inside has a lot of cool stickers and the staff are nice. I ordered Road King burger with salad and a side of the famous jalapeño Mac and cheese. The burger was huge and perfect, a little bland but I had ordered the jalapeño cilantro aioli to put on top which was an excellent addition. The salad has an OG house-made red pickled onion that is WONDERFUL! I wanted to buy an entire jar right then and there! The salad was great because I had been craving greens for a while and they are hard to find in this town. The Mac and cheese was...interesting. I think it was just nacho cheese on top of cooked noodles with bacon crumbles and a minced jalapeño. Not really what I was expecting but it did have a pleasant crunch from the fresh pepper minced in. I will be going back soon for another burger, but not the Mac and cheese. The bartender was great! She talked to me about the area and the stage looks like it houses talented artists. It's the perfect place for a meal after a long day at work.

Went in the Tuesday after Christmas and was seated for a party of 4. It took us 15-20 minutes to get menus, but slow service is standard for the Gringo so wasn't surprised or upset. After we finally managed to place an order we sat there patiently for about 40 minutes talking before asking our server if our food was coming, she said probably another 15 minutes but she could ask the kitchen. At this time a woman who is either a manager or the owner but either way a routinely petty and drama-causing individual brought food to a table near us. The woman receiving the food complained (rather politely) about the wait. The manager/owner tried to take the plate out of the woman's hand, then proceeded to grab the woman. Causing her to scream about calling 911. The manager/owner told the family they had to leave and somehow as usual made herself the victim in her own mind. After this calmed down we chased after our server who was avoiding us. She said she hadn't asked the kitchen yet how long was left. She then came back and told us maybe another 30-40 minutes. We overheard that the chef had walked out earlier, which whatever, that happens. My wife and I both worked in the service industry for years. But you have to tell your table before they order if there is a 90-minute wait on service. It's completely inappropriate to not. As it seems like no other table in the restaurant was warned either I have to assume that the manager/owner instructed the wait staff not to warn people. We had to chase our server to tell us an hour after we had already ordered. Finally two hours after entering the restaurant, we got our pretty poorly prepared food. Makes sense that it wasn't great if the chef walked out and you decided to stay open...Anyways main takeaways for whoever runs this place.1. If that woman who laid hands on a customer is the manager fire her, if she's the owner, hire a manager and stay off the floor. 2. It's wildly inappropriate to not tell your customers about a 90-minute wait for food3. If your chef walks out and your kitchen staff can't handle it... Just close for the night. You lost multiple long-time customers by staying open in a situation you clearly couldn't handle.

This place is so laid back and chill! Their live music is amazing!! The food is AMAZING!!! the service is truly amazing some of the best I have EVER had!! The owners are usually there too. These owners are some of the most legit owners I think I have ever known! We spent 4 nights at the hotel above the restaurant...and by the time we left we were hugging the owners bye! It was as if we were leaving a family reunion! This is a place you MUST stop in and try! Drinks are amazing! Staff is phenomenal. And the vibe is out of this world! Tell them Melissa and Tim said hello!!

Four of us just had supper at Old Gringo and it was very good. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was served in no time. One of us had the Chicken enchiladas, one the Beef enchiladas, one the Carne Guisada and one had a burger. Everyone enjoyed their meal and agreed that we'd stop there again on our next trip through Alpine.

Immediately upon entering we were seated and I had been so excited for some good food after an 8 hour drive. The atmosphere was amazing! They had a band playing and the food smelled so delicious. Our waitress took our drink and food orders and it took a little bit to actually get our drinks. No biggie. I get it, sometimes waitresses have a lot on their plate at once. About a half hour into our experience, a family of five was sat at a table next to us. We still didn't have any food. Again, no big deal. I'm patient. I was willing to wait. The problem that I had was that it had reached the hour mark since we had sat down and the family of five that had been seated a half hour after us had their drinks and food before we did. The waitress kept checking in on them and apologizing for the wait. Meanwhile we had been entirely forgotten about. Nobody came around to check to see if we needed drink refills. Nobody came by to apologize for the wait or tell us how far along our order was. It was very frustrating seeing this other family get service next to us when we had been waiting twice as long as they had to receive half the service. Eventually we got up and left after paying for our drinks. I was really looking forward to the food. But the lack of service for my party while serving the people next to us is what really killed it for me. Very nice staff and people. But the service just wasn't there.

After an enjoyable lunch with my boyfriend and his friend, the men paid and tried to tip our server. The manager wouldn't for some reason allow my boyfriend to tip. His friend said as he walked to the door that he had spent $40 on lunch. Maybe the manager took him wrong, because she disturbed the full venue of other guests by loudly replying that he had caused a lot of problems as well. This created a verbal altercation between herself and him, and she yelled after him and followed us outside saying ahe was calling the police. Not only was I witness to no violation of any kind having been perpetrated by our companion, but I wondered on what grounds she could (not to mention why she would) file a tresspass report against a customer who dined in the establishment, paid, and asked for a comment card for the good server he wanted to tip.She was rude to my boyfriend twice as well for no reason, as he was polite, paid, and tried to tip as well. I am sure I wasn't the only other guest who felt appalled at her misconduct. This woman took her personal feelings about a customer to a level that was completely uncalled for and resulted in a scene. This place seems to be run by emotionally unbalanced people who misuse public law enforcement resources to further their fantasy dramas.

Very poor Management, they are very Arrogant, and rude to there hard working staff, rooms were very dusty. And the bathrooms are filthy. We will not be back. Good Luck with your stay. The pictures portray a wonderfully great place. Very misleading. And the booze is watered down. The bed was soft. That's my 1 star.Kid-friendliness: Not a place I would take my kids.Wheelchair accessibility: Rooms are up stairs no elevator, and the bar is to small for you to feel comfort in a wheel chair
