We love Reata! Our table was right by the front floor, so dinner included people coming and going and checking in with the hostesses.
There were no guaranteed wheat free items for an entree. I ended up having two appetizers. The restaurant was too loud. We sat in a corner table for two, we had to almost shout at each other to have a conversation. We were offered dessert though again no wheat free options. I am not one of those customers who chooses a wheat free or gluten free diet by choice. My allergy is so severe that I must be very diligent in avoiding wheat. I understand it's difficult for restauranteurs.
Friendly personable and excellent service. Great selection and always delicious. Our Monday treat.
The service was great. The food was phenomenal. Carne Asada and cheese enchiladas is the best I ever had.
Do not miss out on that pork chop! Get the sauce on the side, use if ya want but that juicy well seasoned chop stands on its own. We were a party of 4 and left very happy.
I have eaten here on many occasions when visiting Alpine and had had great experiences in the past. The food was excellent as usual but one employee lacked good customer skills and management made it hard for other employees. Saturday October 18, 2025 at 6:15pm. The hostess sat us at a table for two against a wall where chairs could not be rearranged that had direct afternoon sun shining directly into my eyes and was not blocked in any way. I asked her before we sat down if we could sit at another table. She said “this is the only one available” when I could see 4 other empty tables from where I stood. We sat down and it was impossible to look across the table so I went back to the hostess and told her we couldn't sit at that table and we needed to move. She begrudgingly said “whatever” and moved us to another table. We then observed her turning away potential customers when there were empty tables. I guess she didn't want to deal with anyone who didn't have a reservation and there was no wait list. That person should not be dealing with the public. Our waitress was very nice and was very pleasant but obviously over-assigned with too many tables. She was at a near-run all evening trying to cover all her tables but we had to wait too long to order and waaay too long to finally get our bill and pay. Management needs to pay more attention and correct problems like this. They should not turn walk-ins away and should keep some tables open for them with a waiting list. People who don't make reservations will wait for a table but it does take more effort from the hostess to manage it. I get it that in a small town good employees are hard to find. This is a good restaurant with good food but it leaves a bad taste in customers mouths (no pun intended) when a pleasant evening is marred with issues.
We waited for over 20 minutes and finally asked to speak to someone and was told he was the general manager. Finally got a server who was very nice. I fount it really rude of the GM to not even acknowledge us or care at all that the service was so horrific. We went out of way to go eat there and to have that bad of service made us not to want to go back.
Not what it used to be. I didn't realize when setting the reservation that all the tall tables are in the bar. The only reason this matters is that the bar area is notorious in every establishment for being either ignored or very late in being helped. The manager would have re-seated us in another area, but I wanted the tall table because my wife has a thing, so after agreeing, we chose to stay with it. Food: Both had cup of tortilla soup as an appetizer. We shared bacon wrapped asparagus during the main with me having the 8oz tenderloin and her choice being the blackened salmon. We had a couple of drinks and for desert we chose the pecan pie to share. Total bill was 184 that included my 25% tip...14x.xx pre tip. The tortilla soup was disappointing. They've changed the way they make it. Mine was absolutely covered in cilantro. The wife's wasn't as bad. I didn't expect that. And I guess they've chosen to make the jalapeño a center point for their food. It had raw chopped jalapeño in it. Not horrible to me like the cilantro, but odd. And that was it. Plain broth over corn tortilla slices with a little bit a chicken and some cheese in the bottom of the bowl. The old soup was much better. My tenderloin was cooked perfect. Loved it. The brussel sprouts were okay. The mashed potatoes we a bit salty but okay. The wife loved her salmon. The rice was okay, and it came with the same brussel sprouts. The bacon wrapped asparagus was awesome. The grits under it were meh. Our drinks were fine. The desert was good. The pecan pie is extremely sweet. Infact, I ate the ice cream to make it less sweet. That's a me thing. Others may love it. We ordered coffee, but never received any. Overall they seemed busy with the staff they had, but it was a wierd busy. Being near the bar we were forgotten more than once. The staff wasn't mean or bad in any way that you could point to, more a bit of scattered responsibilities. So we often saw more than one lose focus.
We live in Fort Worth, and Reata is one of our favorites. We were excited to visit the original Reata in Alpine. It did not disappoint...it was AWESOME! The general manager, Bart, took us on a tour of the place and had some great stories! It's the best food and service in this part of the world. Make sure and ask for Carli as your server...she's great!
Waited +20min after we were seated before we got drinks. Food was amazing.

Make sure and get a reservation. When we are in town we try to stop once for a nice meal. The service can be inconsistent and slow but the food is always good. This is fanciest place in Alpine but can still wear shorts and a tee shirt and get in.
This was our second visit. Everything was excellent. I had the chicken fried steak, which was phenomenal. I personally love the murals painted on the walls outside, you can see them through the windows. A beautiful job. We didn't have a reservation, but we were there early enough to get a table. I recommend a reservation if you plan to go. It might not be needed, but it's better to be prepared. ❤️

Had reservations for 6:30; arrived on time and seated promptly. Server Marsha was terrific! Food was very good but slow coming out of the kitchen. The cooks must have lost the order for the entree. We got the ribeye and split it along with a field greens salad with bleu cheese crumbles. Both were very good. We each had a glass of cab which was very good. Because of how slow the kitchen was, Marsha comped us for the salad and the wine! What a great deal! We'd definitely come back if we make it to Alpine again!
🚨 If you have a nut allergy be VERY CAREFUL!! The food was wonderful!!! The service - Marsha! ❤️- was absolutely best in the area!! The restaurant GM was incredible. The kitchen - despite inquiring and being told multiple times that we had an allergy decided to substitute their bread crumbs on the mac and cheese with pecan filled bread. 🤦🏻♂️ Service staff and GM were extremely apologetic, which was kind. Walked out of the restaurant shaken, but not not deterred. Regardless of the incident we will absolutely be back again - the food was delightful.

My wife and I came to Reata for our Anniversary dinner and everything came out superb! The hostess and waitress were very professional, courteous, the cooks came out to check on how we liked our food, which was very delicious! This is a beautiful and classy restaraunt. When in Alpine, Reata is the place to definitely check out! - Dwayne and Candes Reyes
