Shi Lee's Barbecue & Soul Food Cafe

Shi Lee’s is outstanding BBQ. Shi is a hoot, with a wry sense of humor. Ribs and brisket were perfectly prepared. But the side dishes!! I’m guessing there were at least 20 to choose from (though some were not available). I had the best jalapeno beans I’ve ever had. The cafe is small and there were several takeout orders so be patient. It’s worth the wait. We were just passing through but Shi Lee’s Barbeque and Soul Food Cafe might just be worth a long return road trip.

Some of the absolute best catfish and fried okra I've ever had from a restaurant! This place was recommended to meet by my uncle from South Dakota, when they traveled through Texas they were looking for good soul food and this place came highly recommended. Now I know why!

Came here for the catfish. Nobody in Amarillo actually serves catfish anymore! It's all that whitefish substitute garbage to maximize profit and it's just NOT the same or as anywhere as near as good. The food was pretty dern good, aside from my fried pickle order (hamburger sliced size, they call discs, as there either them or spears) which was so salty a snail could die a mile away just from the smell. Service wasn't terrible but not very good as our waitress only took our order and served our drinks. I badly needed a refill of drink and more condiments but she NEVER came back and/or asked. The restaurant wasn't terrible, but it's in a run down part of town and par at best. I would recommend ordering pickup/takeout here for the best experience. So/so place to eat.

The best BBQ ribs I've had in a long, long time. Worth the drive for sure. Got a chance to chit chat with the locals too, very cozy joint.

There were 12 of us passing thru and they graciously accomadated us later near closing time. The food was so good I had to apologize to my mama who makes the best soul food I've eaten. We also had the BBQ ribs and brisket, the catfish, the sides, and peach cobbler. 10 out of 10 for everything. However, the best part of this experience was the warm hospitality shown to us by Shi lee and her staff. You are at home when you eat there. God Bless yall.

The best food I have had in a long time! I had the pork chops, red beans and rice and the cabbage. Lots of food and I ate all of it!! The women were so helpful and patient with our questions. Even brought out an ox tail for us to try (it was out of this world!!). We will be back!

The food was PHENOMENAL! There were 4 adults and 2 kids. Everyone got drinks, total came to $117 but there was so much food!! If we had paced ourselves we could have taken food home….if being the operative word here. I would definitely eat here again!
