Diners beware! We've made a Driskill brunch and the truly gorgeous brioche cinnamon role a winter holiday tradition for the past decade+. Sadly, this year marks the last for us due to an overturn in management and menu that yourself a significantly lower quality in food. The cinnamon role may very well have been a freezer bake that appeared to have been bathed in soupy icing in an attempt to camouflage the unimpressive doughy roll. There were no avocados for the avocado toast (now called avocado tartine) and the home fries were burnt. The side bowl of fruit (a mix of strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries) was really good and the only thing that tasted vaguely reminiscent of the farm-to-table freshness we're accustomed to from this cafe. What a disappointment to have that be the highlight of my meal. An umissanle plummet in quality that still ran us $80 for two people who drank only a single round of coffee. We're so very, very sad to lose this beloved annual tradition. Humbug.

WOW! This place was incredible. I’ve eaten at a lot of breakfast places in Austin and Cafe 1886 is by far my favorite place. The food was incredible. The service was amazing. And Alex our server was awesome! I’m so excited to come back and try the rest of the menu!

Amazing location and food. Everything we ordered over a few days staying at the Driskill was delicious, especially the home fries (best ever!).

Wife and I had breakfast and was not impressed with the service or food. Our waiter was not professional nor knew the menu and gave us wrong information. Omelette was full of margarine and eggs Benedict was over greasy overcooked. This was our first time of leaving 0 tip.

Terrible Experience – Do Not Recommend

The waiter, a Spanish male, was extremely rude to us from the moment we walked in. The service felt rushed and unprofessional, and we were made to feel unwelcome. On top of that, the food was awful. Everything tasted like it was made with artificial butter, and the quality was nowhere near what we expected.

Save your time and money—there are plenty of better places to eat. We will definitely not be coming back.

Went in alone to women working coffee bar, she was clearly not happy to see me advised to go speak to hostess. Went to hostess she bring me to a table next to a pillar in the middle of a high traffic pathway. I explain sitting here would cause me anxiety. I asked to be seated at an empty table she says they are not seating in that area. I say ok can I sit at that tables once they clear it she says fine and tell me to wait in the non seating area. Ok no problem. Hostess walks by me twice, I wait for five minutes, then stand up and go look at the table I’m waiting for. She has seated someone else and avoids eye contact. I decided to leave. Not a nice vibe at all. This was an unfortunate way to start my morning. Went to one of the 5 other option in proximity of this restaurant and gave my business to a much friendlier establishment 5th street diner. Boo.

Great place! I love atmosphere and the food was tasty!! I will definitely be back! We went as a family with 4 kids under the age of 10 and we felt comfortable and welcomed. Definitely a family friendly place, with amazing food!

I've been going here for years. Its about an hour out of our way and we usually make that trip 6-8 times a year. Unfortunately, today was probably my last time doing it. Im not sure if they're under new management or what, but they've changed their food and it is unfortunately not for the better. The food quality is far less than it used to be, to the point that I used to crave going there, and now I've lost all interest, unfortunately. Their pastries are still killer however. But the changes they made to their meals was a large downgrade.

The best Huevos Rancheros I have ever had for breakfast. Just the correct amount of spice. The ambience is amazing. Very friendly staff.
