This restaurant used to be our regular spot for drinks & dinner, because we live close by, the food was consistently good, and we love the atmosphere. The Carpenter Salad and double meat burger were our favorites. Since the ownership has changed, unfortunately so has the food. No more Carpenter Salad and the burger is now one patty with a mediocre bun. Such a loss for the neighborhood!

Definitely disappointing food, service and overall experience. Had to wait about 20+ min past our reservation time to get a table just to sit there for another 15+ until someone came over to us. We had to ask about the special menu as our server didn't go over anything. Most of the food arrived cold to our table and we later realized we weren't even served one our the sides that came with the thanksgiving option we ordered. A few items were pretty good like the butternut squash soup, truffle jus and pumpkin ice cream, but the rest were unremarkable. Not sure if they were short staffed or what because they didn't apologize or communicate that they were experiencing issues. Also we were on the patio and not offered blankets even though it was quite cold but we staff folding up ones given to other diners. Not a great night. Wouldn't recommend.

I want to reiterate that the burger has minimal meet on it now, it was still decent, but its the size of single patty McDonalds burger. But what really bothered me was they switched out the normal pint glass with a smaller glass. The draught beers are advertised as 16 ounces. They are not. I know because I ordered a Lone Star tall boy and the glass would not fit all 16 ounces. Real pet peeve of mine.

A true Austin experience and the best staff, in total, that I have encountered in a long time. The staff and the retro setting set a really unique vibe in the restaurant. Food was very good with the spanish octopus and the rib eye being the highlights. Good, well selected wine list (even if markup is a little high) and a great bar program (Secret Beach on tap at a restaurant....thought I was dreaming).
Chelsea (Manager) was patient with my indoor / outdoor table change requests, despite being a very busy night. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive but not disruptive, and just plain cool....in fact I would say that about all of the serving staff.
Overall one of my best fine dining experiences in Austin. BTW, the outside patio is perfect.

Great brunch experience. The patio was lovely, service was wonderful and food super yummy. (Yazmine was a delight). My friends and I got a bunch of plates to share family style and we did not miss! Got the French Toast, Smoked Salmon, Shashuka and the hash browns...all 10/10.

Absolutely love this place! The vibe is incredible and every single staff member is a gem - especially the manager who gave us bday Champaign and our server KR with the cute nails.

It would be a 6 stars if they brought back the wiener schnitzel that was actually chicken.

Food was good, but not worth the price tag. You are paying for the ambience and location. Service was great. Not sure if we would be back, unless only for cocktails.
Parking: Paid parking on street and then walk a couple blocks.

We stayed at the hotel and ate at Carpenters Hall several times during our visit. Our very first dining experience got off to a rocky start initially, but Tamara the bar manager swooped in and turned things around immediately. She was so amazing: attentive, helpful, thoughtful, and just a lovely human! She took such good care of us all weekend long. We had our 4 year old with us and she treated him so kind- he just fell in love with her and so did we! She really made our weekend complete! As for Carpenters Hall, the food was really delicious, fresh and clean ingredients. The service the rest of the weekend at the restaurant was wonderful too. I believe the new ownership has turned things around here. We will definitely return!

I was here about three weeks ago for brunch and the food was pretty good, service was up to par, but one thing left a bad taste in my mouth and left a negative impression on my whole experience as a queer person. One of the staff was discussing with his coworkers the use of the f-slur and he was justifying the use of it, all while saying the full word several times within ear shot of my table.

Carpenter's Hall in Austin is a gem! It's got a cozy vibe and the food is all about local ingredients and delicious twists. The place itself feels historic and cool, perfect for hanging out or celebrating with friends. The service is super friendly too, making it a spot you'll want to come back to.
